13 in 35, probably literally wont ever happen again. 22 Wins possibly, game winners happens every season. But 13 in 35 is like sinking 5 clutch three shots in a row and drawing a foul on one of them
I had decent seats for the playoff Jazz game where Dream had 42 and Clyde had 40. At one point Dream made a goofy shot where he kind of just scooped the ball in the hoop underhanded from just inside the free throw line. I looked at the bench and Sam Cassell quickly turned around with an excited look on his face to someone a few rows up in the stands saying "Did you just see that???!!!". Good times.
Sneaking up to the front row with my friends during the last two minutes of that fateful Spurs/Rox game (I had a go anywhere pass due to my participation in the Clutch City Shootout) and witnessing up close and personal McLady's 13 points in 35 seconds. I've never high fived so many people in my life.
Game 3 of the 1994 playoff series against Phoenix. Nobody gave the Rockets a chance to win that game, let alone the series. But they did. I have always felt that by the Rockets winning that series it made them mentally invincible. No matter what situation they were put in over the next 2 years they were able to over come it time and time again.
sat 2 rows behind the rockets bench for Game 4 of the Finals vs the Magic (right behind Steve McNair). One of the exec's wife was sitting next to me and she had the previous year's ring around a necklace and she let me put it on.....all topped off with a sweep and a huge party on Richmond and Chimney Rock
another one that had no significance but put a smile on my face: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5pctMowuZik&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5pctMowuZik&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Some more obscure favorite Rockets moments... Granville Waiters in Denver, Double OT, epic. Old man Larry Smith playing center when Dream was injured in 1990. He must have averaged 15 boards a game, I kid you not. It was ridiculous the stretch of games he had, quite a few 20+ rebound games. OT was working the pick and roll like ridiculous. It was an OT dunk fest for like a month straight off the pick and roll. Still never seen anything like that. Any time Derrick Chievous shot a free throw. Playoffs in San Antonio, Dream is abusing David Robinson. Bob Hill in his infinite wisdom brings in Terry Cummings to guard Dream because if the MVP can't guard Dream, perhaps a washed up 6'8" guy who can't play defense can do it. Dream promptly posts up Cummings and does a Wilt Chamberlain behind the head no look ridiculous flip shot. Game 2 playoffs in Utah, game after Vernon left the team. Rocks go ballistic with the threes. Even Chilly Pete is draining threes like money. Crazy shooting game.
Yao's first game against Shaq (lakers) when he blocked Shaq's first 4 shots, while Yao made his first 4 shots. Oh yes, I need a video request of this game PLZZZZZZ.
Ironic, those were my 2 favorite moments..plus I am 23 and started watching ball around the same time that you started watching....creepy
these two are some of my more recent favs. a couple of other random moments, first game of the Sampson/Fitch era, nationally televised game, and a new "star" was born: Lewis Lloyd. and the '86 finals, one of the games in Boston, when Akeem stole the ball on consecutive possessions, dribbled the length of the court and calmly dunked, while Parrish, McHale, and Walton stood and watched, and Tommy Heinsohn marveled on air.
New Rockets memories: 1. 22 game winning streak win over the Lakers 2. 13pts in 35sec 3. T-Mac dunk on Shawn Bradley 4. Yao going behind the back against Portland <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hvvAMDrMcO0&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hvvAMDrMcO0&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Old Rockets memories: 1. Dream's block on John Starks 2. Kiss of death by Mario Ellie 3. Dream's tip in against Orlando 4. And this... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jc02Z4-0wDM&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jc02Z4-0wDM&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
13 in 35...mostly because it is the longest out of all of those wonderful moments. The Shot, or the Kiss of Death...they were just short moments. The way the excitement and disbelief kept building during the final minute of that game...I can't think of any other basketball moment I can repeatedly watch and ALWAYS get goosebumps. I could probably quote the TNT video of it verbatim at this point.
cant agree more... i still get the chills from thinking about what we accomplished that game... **** is unreal!
