That knee is still not healthy and can't strengthen it because it swells up....I don't think Berkmans going to hit .300 and hit 30 homeruns anymore, but he's much better than a .230 hitter, he's having a horrible year, I think they should just shut him off like the Astros did with Oswalt last year
Agree completely. It would be nice though if Lance (and Carlos) could work a little harder in the offseason to stay sharp. I really think that plays into why they are having such down years. They are getting old enough that they can't just rely on their abilities like they could in their prime. Carlos doesn't try to start getting in shape until after the Rodeo, and I think if Lance worked harder at it, they could have discovered the knee issue well before spring training. Obviously I can't verify what their offseason routine is, but from the looks of them they aren't running too many marathons.
anybody watch sportscenter? They had a topic "Oswalts New Plan" but my phone rang and I missed what they said. thanks
Probably just what was reported in the chronicle today. Which is funny, ESPN has been contributing to the erroneous reporting, yet when Roy tries to set the record straight, it is his "new plan". What a bunch of d-bags. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bb/7125686.html
What exactly did he set straight? Nowhere in there did he say what teams he'd be OK getting traded to, nor did he state he'd be willing to drop his demand that his option get picked up - just that it might be restructured. If he really wanted to create clarity, he very easily could. But there are clearly a lot of things behind the scenes going on that he doesn't want public - which is his right, to be fair.
Cant paste but looks like Oz may be headed to Philly after all.... @philliesfanclub: Phillies still in running for Oswalt: By Todd Zolecki / MLB.com PHILADELPHIA -- Jayson Werth was in the Phillies l... http://bit.ly/ax1doE
I am actually pretty positive because it's the first time both "sources" and Roy are on the same page about the option and playing in Philly. If true, then we are down to prospects and I like our chances of getting something done sooner then later.

This is truly all I ask of them, I know its a DIFFCULT trade to pull off so as long as they are making every effort to move him and are not delusional/reluctant to make the move I am okay with whatever happens.
http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/mlb/100728-cards-back-away-from-oswalt-trade-talks Houston - Major League Baseball sources told FOX 26 Sports Wednesday the St. Louis Cardinals have ended efforts to engineer a trade with the Houston Astros to land pitcher Roy Oswalt. With the Cardinals out of the picture it would appear the leading contenders to pull off a deal for the Astros ace are the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The New York Yankees may be in the market for a starting pitcher, but there hasn't been any evidence they have expressed interest in Oswalt. The MLB non-waiver trading deadline is 3 p.m. Houston time Saturday. Oswalt is scheduled to start Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers at Minute Maid Park. Ealier this season Oswalt asked the Astros to consider trading him if it would be in the best interest of the club.
Good because all it would be taking back is crap. I don't blame the Astros for standing strong in asking for their one and only prospect.

Sorry for the 3x post From Richard Justice(fwiw): http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2010/07/why_hasnt_oswal.html So we know the Cardinals are out of it. Dodgers look iffy. Philly? Who knows. It is Philly or nothing?
I am calling my shot now, if this deal goes down... Oswalt for Happ, Gose, Rizzotti and SINGLETON I would be pleased.
