Following on the stuck in LaGuardia thread just curious what Clutchfans frequent fliers think about what is the best and worst airports to be stuck in.

I've had to spend the night at DIA and DFW and while I almost always seem to get delayed at both they are pretty decent to get stuck in with a lot to do in the airport. SFO is not bad either since they seem to keep some of their food stalls open later than other airports. It really sucks knowing you are stuck for hours late at night and all the food stalls shut down at 9.

Overseas though Changi Airport in Singapore is the best airport hands down. Lot of food and other amenities open 24 hours.

Sorry Houston but one of the worst airports to be stuck in is Bush Intercontinental. That place was once cool but needs some serious upgrades. As I noted in the other thread JFK seems pretty crappy. The Delta terminal is confusing and seems kind of run down.

Minneapolis is a nice one. Lots of food options, and you can walk between terminals.

Changi is Singapore is pretty awesome. So is Schiphol in Amsterdam. The wife and I had an early flight out of Vancouver once, but the day before we departed from Victoria. We needed to stay close to the airport, and somehow she talked me into staying at the Four Seasons inside the Vancouver airport..........what an awesome hotel, and a really pretty airport too. Moscow flat out sucks balls. I guess it's the Russian way, but damn what a bunch of miserable people.

Internationally, I'd say amongst the best are Singapore, Sydney, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Frankfurt. Domestically, Denver is pretty cool, along with SFO and LAX.

I'm not really sure about the worst, but I would guess that Houston has gotta be on that list. It's just bland.....they really need to get going on the upgrades. Luckily I haven't been stranded in too many places domestically since I'm usually either taking non-stops to my destination, or rushing to catch a connecting flight.

I fly through minneapolis usually 4 times a year. I love airports and airplanes, and I travel quite frequently. Minneapolis is the bomb. I'm always hoping for a long layover there. Once when I was younger we had such a long layover that we were able to take a shuttle and spend a few hours in the Mall of America.
I used to get stuck in Memphis all of the time. Not a terrible airport, and we went to Graceland once when they bumped us overnight.
    I also like Denver's airport a lot.
Houston has so many flights coming in and out of it, it's amazing how not nice our airport is.

LAX and YVR get rated pretty well, but I find them dull as can be. As long as the airport has AC and comfy chairs they're all the same to me as I'll be buried in a book or sitting in the bar watching a game if one's on.

"Best" airports, I guess would be those like Amsterdam where you can hop on a train and go walk about town if you've a couple of hours. Sitting in an airport just doesn't meet any definition of 'best' IMO.

If you get stuck in LAX you could run into celebrities or Ball players.

O'Hare and Midway are definitely not the worst. At least both are connected to the El...and you can easily get to downtown Chicago for $2.25.

My vote for worst is Toronto. Terrible food, and a cab to the city is $50 (no train).

I hate Charles de Gaulle in Paris and Heathrow in London.

If I were stuck, Hong Kong, Hamburg, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Zurich top that list.

Billings, Montana HANDS DOWN is the WORST airport to get stuck in.

I helped my dad drive to Canada from Houston last week, since I didnt have a passport that was the closest airport I could take back home. I was stuck there from 6pm-6am, there is no restaurants or stores , just 2 vending machines, and not much else. After 10pm I was the ONLY person at the entire airport for several hours other than the people cleaning up.

I would pay any amount of extra money to avoid DeGaulle. Any amount.

What's so bad about Charles DeGaulle? I've flown through there with no problems. Malpensa in Milan is a zoo.
