Thanks. that helps a little. didnt know that about Z. and to all the "trade Yao" ppl: F-off. i hope yao retires a rocket and i hope we win at least 1 championship with him on the team. i cant bear another dream in toronto incident. im really starting to believe that taking on steve francis cursed the franchise...and the franchise. instant karma really got us..
not to say I told you so, but I am pretty sure I predicted all of this two years back in that thread that all of you flamed me for. I sure hope he returns and proves me wrong, but as time moves on, the more I realize that the Yao era in Houston was over and relatively disappointing.
if morey's sorcery is even 1/4 as powerful as he's given credit for here, i'm guessing he's already reached this conclusion.
Not at all. Some people try playing "cool guy" all damn day rather than talk about our Rockets. The other day someone called another a "rookie"... guess cause hes new to this site? How long a person has been writing on this site has nothing to do with a persons knowledge of the game...
luckily, i am not that type of ppl. i have been rox fans since 1993 when i went to college station. i like to discuss instead calling out the name.
intersting, no one quoted this post. it clearly defined the content. it seems some of us won't take this due to their own aganda.
Jonathan Feigan seems to think it is just a warning to the CNT, nothing more. He is probably right. DD
To the people pointing out Yao's drop in ppg after his peak in 2006-2007, remember that Rick Adelman replaced Van Gundy before the start of the 2007-2008 season. By 2006-2007, Van Gundy was running a very Yao/McGrady-centric offense. It was either T-Mac iso/pick-and-roll, or Yao post up. That shows in the numbers. In 2006-2007 Yao had 17.1 FGAs per game, and consumed a whopping 33.5% of the Rockets possessions while he was on the floor. When Adelman came in, he installed his Princeton-type offense, that spread possessions more evenly among the team's players. Yao's FGAs and usage rate in 2007-2008 dropped to 15.5 and 27.1%, and in 2008-2009 the numbers dropped to 13.4 and 26.2%. Yao's scoring dropped because he was taking far fewer shots. In 2008-2009, however, Yao had the second most efficient shooting season of his career, with a FG% of 0.548. With FTs (at a career high of 0.866) factored in, his TS% was the best of his career at 0.618. Overall, different metrics will tell you different things. PER (in which individual scoring plays a large part) says that 2005-2007 was clearly Yao's peak. But +/- (which aims to capture how well a player fits into his team on both offense and defense), says that 2009 was by far Yao's best season at +11. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I read on this forum that Morey's secret system is a version of +/-, and that according to his stats 2009 was Yao's best as well. It would be great if someone can verify that. Anyway, I hope the big guys gets back to form. If he doesn't, it would be a loss not only to the Rockets, but to the NBA and basketball in general. The league is short on skilled, traditional post up players, as well as good, humble guys.
Ok its July. Hmmm we have august september than october. 3 months before the season starts. Thats enough time for him 2 heal and rehab the foot. The guy missed all last season. How much time does he possibly need. Stop panicking and wait for trainin camp.
Yao is usually optimistic. This didn't sound too optimistic from Yao. He's usually full of jokes. I kept waiting for the punch line on this one......
yeah and this is why we can't get a big fa man this has been a bad year for me and it don't look like b-ball will be any better
well, i'm in west houston, so i've already evacuated. should i come back? this isn't panic. people are rightfully concerned about the health of their favorite team's best player....who is coming back from a surgery and a history of injuries and possesses the body-type of a player that doesn't usually play past about 30 years old...oh, yeah...and he's 30 years old. so when he makes comments speculating on his own retirement within the upcoming season.....there might be a few comments of concerns on a Rockets message board.
