    About $400.

It's amazing to me how many people come back from Vegas and answer THE question by saying "I won a little" or "I broke even." BS. Vegas wasn't built on winners or people breaking even. Most people lose and can't admit it.

I used to trade stocks for a living. That is like a casino right? I lost about $10,000 in about 60 seconds on a single trade. It was my biggest losing trade ever.

Awesome, congrats. What were you playing? The odds are always stacked against you at a casino. I only gamble on soccer and basketball. I don't bet a lot, but I've won more than I've lost. A lot of people go for the home run in sports betting, but if you make intelligent bets, the money will add up. I live in Vegas and usually go to two or three places to get the best odds before I place a wager.

Believe it or not AroundTheWorld, I placed a futures bet of $20 on VfB Stuttgart in 2006 to win the Bundesliga. The odds were like 25/1 and they won the title on the last day of the season. That was a nice, unexpected payday. The most I won was picking the Celtics to win the East this season. I put $200 on the Lakers to win the West (the odds were essentially even). I didn't think that anyone was really going to challenge LA in the West so I figured that I had $200 to play with. Thus, I put $200 on the Celtics to go to the finals and won $2000 (odds were 10/1). I made a killing riding the Celtics during the playoffs as well.

The most I've lost is $100 on multiple occasions. Most recently on picking Brazil to win the World Cup. They suckered me in with 11/2 odds on Brazil to go all the way. I thought that was too good to pass up. There was a 3/1 prop on either Brazil or Spain going all the way. I should've put my money on that even though there was a small chance that they would meet in the Round of 16. Anyways, I found out about it too late (odds were changed).

When I gamble I always have a set amount that I'm willing to risk. If I lose that amount, I don't let emotions take over. I take my losses and live to fight another day. Far too often I see people that lack the mental strength to walk away including my own friends who come to visit. One of my friends from Houston literally lost all the cash (over $1,500) he brought with him to Vegas within two hours of arriving.

We should have a few threads dedicated to gambling on the major sports on this website where everybody gives their opinion.

$15,000 in one day? Did you win or lose that amount and what were you playing?

Nice, what were you playing when you won over $10,000?

    Absolutely, especially the bolded part.

Was in Vegas once a few years back as a pit stop for a week-long road trip through all the Western US with my crazy religious cousin, so we hit the strip... we've been sleeping at camp sites in rural Utah, crappy hotels in Idaho...

I am so delirious and sick of his stupid face that I start getting surly and tell him that I just want to go back to the hotel and sleep, but we go out anyway, see the stupid Bellagio Water Fountain show, big deal...

I catch a 2nd wind and we wander into Treasure Island, I have 2 dollars in my wallet, I hand him 1 dollar and I take the other, I put the **** into a video poker slot, my cousin loses his dollar right away because he has no idea how to play video poker... I end up hitting big on my last 25 cents and work my way up to 30 bucks. I tell my cousin to cut me off if I get down to 20, takes about 10 more minutes but finally I hit 20 bucks... so I cashed out and left and we went and hit up In-N-Out Burger.

So I've always been able to say I took money from Vegas, even though it was in the cheapest fashion imaginable.

I only bet on sports at sports books in person here in Vegas, but when I lived in Houston I had an account with bodog. You have to get kinda of creative when it comes to adding and deducting money from your account because of the laws against online gambling here in the US, but it can be done and the site is legit. The website is www.bodog.com

Thats how much I won in one day...I was actually up around 20-22K at one point but lost some before walking away. Pretty hot table...my friend actually left the table with ~33K, although, he lost about 20K of that the following couple days.

I usually play craps and blackjack...on that particular day, it was 80 percent blackjack, even though I won probably 8K in craps.

Have won about £300 in one day... not in a Casino though, but in Sports betting during the World Cup. Was lucky though, an accumulator. Am now making about £30 per week on football bets since World Cup started, not bad!

The most I have lost is £130 on a bet that Martin Jol would become manager of Fulham... thought it was a sure thing. I hate Ajax now, haha. So overall I'm up a couple of hundred...

To answer the questions, I played roulette...and some blackjack in between. I only lost money on blackjack, though. Do you know these tables where you have complete rookies at the end of the table who keep hitting against a dealer's six, even when they have 16 or so? And then the dealer gets whatever he needs to beat you and you want to strangle the rookie ;). By the way, my winnings were in Euro, not dollars.

I was actually more worried about the walk back in the dark from the casino to my hotel room.

What you see in the back is the casino, which is on a small half-island in the sea.

I was in Vegas in June and lost probably around $400 over three days time in Black Jack. On the last night, I won just over $100 in poker.

I always try to avoid Black Jack because I always lose. However, it is just so fricken convenient when you have a few minutes to kill and I "know" how to play that game. I should learn to just say no!

Poker, on the other hand, I usually do well at. I always play low-stakes, limit poker so I won't ever win very big but I can make $100 last five or six hours even if I lose everything. Where else in Vegas can $100 last that long?

I used to be addicted to Vegas back in 2006-2007... Meaning I would go once a month for about 18 monts. During that period I used to be a STUPID and excessive gambler... Was at a table at 8am by myself one day and started betting $500 - $2,000 a hand. Suddenly I had a HOT shoe and was winning 4 out of every 5 hands. I walked away at 8:30am up $50,000. I didn't gamble for the rest of the day because I was on such a high. To this day I still can't believe that streak of luck.

Sadly, because of what a stupid gambler I was, I lost that and more over the next few subsequent Vegas trips. That was when I learned my lesson, taught myself to count cards, and started gambling MUCH more modestly ($25/hand).

I played a couple of no-limit tournaments at the MGM over the course of several days(they have em daily...morning buy in is $60....Nightly buy in is $100.

Anyways, I chopped with 2 other guys in one tourney and ended up with about $1100 that time.

The next evening, I actually won the nighttime tourney. Won about $4500 on that one...

So...technically I won $5,600 that day although I lost back several hundred betting baseball in between.

I have a friend who won 9k at a table, but overall I'm sure he's still down.

I used to have a pretty bad problem gambling. Most I've lost in one day/night is prob $800. My overall loss in gambling for my life so far is probably in the negative $10,000 neighborhood. Pretty sad

But you learn from your mistakes.
