Smart move by the bulls. He's still popular with a lot of fans and it appears that the move is low risk since he's said he's willing to come off the bench. I dont expect anything spectacular from him though. If he's able to stay healthy all season, it'll be an accomplishment.
Bulls tried to draft TMAC in '97 but failed. Bulls tried to sign TMAC in '00 but failed. Thrid time is a charm?
Re-read your own post and think about what you wrote. Fact: He's coming off a serious injury. "Don't rush" to conclude he will be anything like he used to be for any period of time. Last year he was 100% and ready to go. How did that turn out? Fact: He said he doesn't mind coming off the bench. "Don't rush" to conclude that his words mean anything more now than they ever did. If you haven't learned to be doubtful about anything McGrady says, you haven't learned anything about him. I suspect the diva will appear at some point during the season. McGrady is one of the least credible players in the NBA. If he would shut his yapper and not say stuff he doesn't really mean, Magic and Rockets fans wouldn't despise him so much. Your opinion: He'll still be better than any bench player on the Rockets. The guy can still be a factor being 6'8 and able to run point guard. "Don't rush" to judgment. You have no idea how effective McGrady will be and for how long. To assume he will last the season is laughable. I can see him feeling good to start out and trying to blend in. Then his strongest supporters will stick their tongues out at the doubters and say, "I told you so". When injuries take him down later, the doubters will wag their tongues back. If you are going to assume the absolute rosiest pie-in-the-sky scenario about McGrady on the Bulls, don't begrudge those who don't.
Disagree, especially if nothing spectacular is even expected of him anyway. He'll have some solid games, sure, but even at his best, he was never efficient, somewhat dominated the ball, didn't really play with high "energy", became increasingly unwilling to attack the basket, and was an average defender (often due to effort). Sounds harsh, but its true. You want energy off the bench. T-Mac's game, specifically, even at its best, is personified by his "lazy" eye - great half court player thriving in one on one or pick and roll type sets...as opposed to high energy pop. just my two cents.
but it was t-mac himself and his trainer who proclaimed that he was 100% back last season, ready to go and motivated. it was t-mac who said the rockets were holding him back and screwing him. the only ones making stupid comments were t-mac and his trainer.
no disrespect but to compare mcgrady and francis is way off here. I believe mcgrady could rely on other things other than athleticism. He had way better basketball iq than francis. Im just saying.
I've read some posts on here saying things like "Great to see Tmac with the Bulls," is it a done deal? If so, things worked out nicely for Tmac this summer.
only a done deal IF he is healthy and is willing to come off the bench. So in all retrospect i would say its possibly not happening. But IF it does happen great offseason for the bulls I say
He needed to go to a deep team with a strong coach who's able to maximize T-Mac's skills and put limits on him effectively. In that kind of situation, he could be a real asset. We'll see if the Bulls are that kind of situation. They seem to have the depth. He could be good for them.
Clearly, Tmac has lost several steps to his game over the last 2-3 years. He is no longer the young athletic tmac of old. I believe he can still put up to put 20 ppg and even score at crucial times of the game. The problem is the pain on his knee. Does he still feel alot of pain on his knee? If he can play through the pain (which I doubt) or not feel any pain, he is still capable of scoring 20.
That's good. Now what we need is for Paul to head over to Orlando. I want these 2 teams to make hell for Lebron and the Heats.
Can everyone just stop beating the T-Mac never made it past the 2nd round. It's a dead horse. The guy has talent, and he still has something left in the tank. He is 30 years old, and wants to compete. Let the hate go. He's not with the Rockets anymore.
Tmac also brought a headache for the fans who believed in him. Its also sad to see how many of his fans dont see that paradigm.
wish the guy the best. hope he has a few more good years in him. and maybe he can win a series or two in the playoffs.
He gives them a playmaker when Rose sits. The Bulls were painful to watch when anybody other than Rose had the ball because nothing happened. The end result was almost always a contested jumpshot. Yeah yeah, that's all T-Mac does, right? Wrong. He plays the pick and roll very well, and I believe that he and Boozer or even Noah could get some easy points for the Bulls when Rose sits. He gives them a playmaker with legitimate size and excellent basketball IQ. He makes them better.
legitimate aha, as a chinese, when I see this word the only gotta in my mind is that a man who R CCTV5 compere named zhang weiping
