AB=TOP5 MARTIN=TOP10 BACKCOURT COMBO=TOP15...(UNDERSIZED...,WAI TOO SMALL!) Trevor=TOP20 (JUST cant shoot the ball, cant handle the ball) Shane=TOP30 (old, overrated, overpaid, worst starter SF in the league) SCOLA=TOP10 YAOMING=TOP10 (TOP 3 if 100% HEALTHY) FRONTCOURT COMBO=TOP10 (GOOD, SKILLED, BUT SLOW AND OLD, LACK OF QUICKNESS AND EXPLOSIVENSS)
So Tyreke has a really good inside game, but sucks every where else. And Brooks has a mediocre inside game, a strong and developing mid range game, and a great outside game, and is more efficient thanks to said outside game. So...Brooks is more diverse and efficient? Is that what you're saying? Oh how great or awful people can look based off a sample size of 1
I don't really get this, which back court combo are they size wise that mismatched against? Combined height of 12'7, which is what, same as the lakers and utah? taller than miami or orlando?
Ariza 7-11?...No. Bad shot selection, turnover prone, streaky outside shooter at best, poor ball handling skills, and he got exposed on defense last year. He was definitely not quite as good as advertised defensively. We'll see how his game evolves playing with Yao, but for now, he is not even top 15. I'd put Kevin Martin higher. Shooting guard is not currently a loaded position (small forward is). Agree with the rest.
Sure based on the eyeball test he doesn't hold up well. But eyeball test his peers if you will. Then go look at their stats last year. Who is there that you would put above Ariza? Factor in offense and defense, and factor in age. Clearly better than Ariza: Lebron, Durant, Anthony, Granger, Pierce, BIG GAP, Iguodala, Gay... Then what? Corey Maggette? John Salmons? Mike Dunleavy? Richard Jefferson? Luol Deng? Marvin Williams? Hedo Turkoglu? Take the Ariza that played after the Kevin Martin acquisition and consider his defensive ability. Now look at his salary (take a guess, it's less than EVERY SINGLE NAME I just mentioned). Conclusion: I don't put Ariza behind of any of those guys except for the top seven. He may be in the middle of the pack of the second tier but SF was a weak position last year. A lot of guys tailed off badly and not many young people replaced them. Ariza's coming into his own; his signing was a value deal. Accept it people. Individually you might think Brooks is better than Ariza, but PG in the NBA is the deepest position of all right now. Don't just say "oh Brooks is around this range and Ariza's around this range", look at the players who they are being compared to.
Ariza is actually pretty good when you count out scoring and shooting. If you value defense, he should be above Gay.....Odom is a tweener, Butler plays more SG than SF... Artest marginally better, he lost some steps, still inefficient on O Maggette plays more SG somewhere between 14-16
That is why you cannot 'feature' him in your offense. He should be the fifth option on the starting team. Your last option. SFs like Hedo and RJ had bad years....and Rashard Lewis is a PF
Last year DWill Rondo Nash DRose CP3 * need not to be included, injury Billups Westbrook Jennings AB0 Parker *average year, injury Reke StephCurry Did not include Collison because of a small sample of very good games Evans and Curry padded their stats on bad teams Arenas is out
Take off the homer glasses. Brooks is not better than Tyreke and Curry. Curry in particular is already one of the best PG's in the league. If you told me that the Warriors were offering Curry for Brooks, I'd fly to Oakland and pack Curry's suitcases for him. I'd even pay money from my own pocket to have it shipped to Houston.
They are rookies and they are on bad teams. They will be better. No doubt. Statswise Brooks had a fantastic year 19.6 points, 5.3 assists and led the team as the no1 offensive option to 42 wins, a positive record. I put Westbrooks 16 pts and Jennings 18.6 points before him only because they made the playoffs. Otherwise Brooks all the way.
Great! Thanks a lot. Paul is essentially 20/10 guy, averaging around 20 points and 10 dimes the last few seasons, while shooting that sizzling percentage you mentioned. Plays terrific defense. Three time All Star already in his career. Has led the league in assists and steals multiple times. Is he even 25 yet? Good grief... you grab this cat if you can. Even DaDakota has finally figured that out.
I agree. Paul is more versatile but what he is not is a long range shooter. This diagram says nothing. AB shoots twice or thrice as much as Chris from long range. 170 taken shots vs. 35-40 taken shots
