    1) follow the Boston model of last year: limit everyone's minutes and stay healthy for the playoff.
    2) sign a superstar like Melo and CP3 using our young assets
    3) get rid of players like Andersen, Jeffries, Harries and cash in draft picks for another semi star player

    What do u guys think?
(BTW this is my first new thread, thanks for the support)

Win more games in the playoffs than our opponents. It's that easy.

We cant follow the same model because we dont know what it's like to win a ring. They had that experience and knew exactly what they needed to do, we dont. We have to go all out and earn that experience.

    What are our other options?

    1) Increase everyone's minutes and abuse Yao's usage in the regular season.
    2) Don't sign a superstar.
    3) Keep players like Andersen, Jeffries, and even Harries because you need scrubs to win.

We can't do #1 because a) we're not as good as the Celtics and b) the West is too competitive to think that we will have enough breathing room to rest all of our key players.

I think the obvious answer is that we need to land a star player without sacrificing so much that we become a worst team, overall.

Yes we should. We are not courageous enough throughout our sports history like those other cities and organizations though. I dont see it happening OP. Nice thought though. This is something best thought out loud for Lakers fans and Boston fans who know about these things like this about consolidation to Superstars always winning Championships. Thats why they always win. Even the fans accept it in those circles and embrace it. Not so much here where we appreciate the little guys a little too much.

    Not really. For example...

    First round, we win 4-0.

    Second round, we lose 4-1.

Not truly contenders, even though we won 5 games and our opponents only won 4.

    :p

You certainly don't limit EVERYone's minutes, maybe just Yao's.

Nope. The team who wins the championship wins 16 games, which is more than anyone else.

I don't quite understand your example, because we won 5 games, and the opponent won at least 8.

I think what you might be thinking of is that to win a championship you do not necessarily need the best win percentage, but only to win each round.

    Example--
Team A--sweeps first three rounds and loses the finals in 7 games.
Team B--wins all four series in 7 games.

    Team A's W/L record= 15-3 .833
    Team B's W/L record= 16-12 .571

I say we don't do anything and see what happens. We have a lot of guys that are playing together for the first time, and there could be something really special here that we haven't seen yet. If it turns out we suck then at the trade deadline we can go after a star, but i would honestly rather see the guys we have now win than for us to go get a star player to win it for us.

Try to poach a star at the deadline.
