As far as I concerned for all these "assets". Morey hasnt done ****. Not jack **** yet. Until he can make them into something. Teams for whatever reason dont like all of these things or he isnt offering the right package wityh all of them to make them useful. So far its only hoarding. Hoarding to me is cool if thats your goal. If you are planning to make a deal after hoarding? Then he hasnt done **** yet.
I think Morey is a top GM also. However, I think that our being shrewd at some point could end up with us setting someone like Cbud as a make or break piece of a deal... In this kind of situation, the team with assets wanting to consolidate usually pays a hefty ransom. If Morey wants CPaul it will be about going to the Hornets and blowing them out of the water. I think you have to concede next years first rounder and a first rounder in 2012 as well. And then put in Brooks, Budinger, Hill and Jeffries. I don't know if I would pay that, but thats what NO will want.
So, what you're saying is he hasn't done **** until he does ****? I'm pretty sure that holds true for all the **** that has been done in the history of **** doing. Thanks for contributing.
Then what if he doesnt do **** still? Still hasnt done **** since he has been here but make us go sideways so far. I dont understand the blowing of this man until he actually gets us past the Western Finals at least first.
Am I the only person that secretly hopes, however unrealistic it is, that the Rockets do so well that we don't acquire any of these big stars? Obviously I want to win, but if we could win with guys we watched come together, I think it'd be a lot sweeter. If Morey trades for a star that puts us over the top, I'll give him an A. If we are over the top without the trade, he gets an A+. I'm so ready to stop talking about basketball and start watching it.
agree with the OP, but the hardest part is catching "the break", because its the part of the process that morey cannot control. let's see what happens before celebrating, sure. but before the celebration comes all the work, and there's no reason to hate on the OP for appreciating the work morey has done to this point.
I remember a day when the Rockets were thought of as a premium organization. People WANTED to come here. Barkley did, Pippen did, and Steve Francis did. Even Tmac was very excited to come here. All players wanted to come here as one of their destinations to win a Championship. Now??? Players are avoiding us. Thats either from our reputation from management or Yao Mings injuries. So I am not impressed with that direction. At least in other GMs tenures this was attractive place to come and play for everyone. I dont like that perception changing at all.
We'll see, I guess the acquisition of Martin and Hill last year will be part of the true test of Morey. He has been great at drafting but so far the free agent market hasn't yielded the help we need.
We have a smart, confident, capable, and best of all nice guy for a GM. Our owner trusts him, and i think we should too. I had no idea who this guy was when we first got him, but the moves he's made to get us out of the Juwan Howard, Mike James, David Wesley era have made us into a legit squad capable of taking on ANYONE in the Nba on any given night. Who beat L.A. at home last yr, we did. Who pimped Boston towards the end of the season IN Beantown? We did. So quit hating and just trust in the guy. I know i certainly do.

Jeff, I don't root for assets to increase in value. I don't root for stats. I don't get a hard on when we squeeze under the cap. All I want are wins. And championships. But to get there, you can't just say, "Let's just root for the players to play." There has to be a realistic path. Now how us fans speculate over it may not matter. That's the GM's job. But personally, I'd much rather talk about the building process of our franchise, than reactions game to game. Sure, games matter. But all the work comes before tip off. Once the whistle sounds, all we can do is hope for the best.
It's a guess, but Jeff just might be shaking his head over the fact that there is yet another Paul/Morey thread.
If that's the case, this isn't a Paul/Morey thread. We are setup for anything that comes along. With us All In financially, and with a non-contending(but stock full of assets) roster IMHO, the real All In move is imminent.
