so my wife and I used to really enjoy watching Monk together with the kids. it was one of those shows that for the most part you could watch with a 12 and 6 year old without fear of innappropriate inuendo/language. Also it wasn't a disney channel mindless tween show (we get stuck watching those enough...)

anyways now that Monk is off the air, any suggestions.
any opinions on Cold Case, NCIS , or Bones...

    thanks

^ I always wondered if I could watch that with my girls. Good call. Monk is awesome. The assistant girls make it funnier. I like that the Buffalo Bill guy is in there.

My girls and my wife like watching some of the investigative reports on TRUtv. I don't know how kid friendly they are, 'cuz I don't like them. I'll find some more and will let you know later.

    September 16th...I can't wait!!!! (Sunny)

My kids and I have really gotten into Wipeout and Billy The Exterminator. Both are pretty light (a few older situations/words in Billy)...and it's something we can sit down and enjoy together.

Bones could be for kids, but NCIS maybe, depends, but not on the sex language, I meant in the violence, but there is not a lot.

I don't recommend NCIS or Bones for kids ... they sometimes have some very gruesome/disgusting images that could give little children nightmares.

If you liked Monk and you're looking for a family show you'll like Psych. Somewhat like Monk except a lot more playful/comical.

Kids could probably watch Eureka. Might not understand anything on the show though.

Both Leverage and White Collar are pretty harmless as well, though the dealing with crime may be an issue depending on what your looking for.

My favorite show when I was six was Married with Children, so I probably couldn't give you the answer you are looking for.

Something like "The Middle" seems like a pretty family oriented show. It is watchable and there is no real sensitive issues touched upon. It sounds from your description that Modern Family would not be ideal for your situation.

Our family gets a kick out of Wipeout. The sarcastic commentary and mockery is very funny. It's only a summer replacement show, I think.

My daughters are fascinated by a show called Castle. It's about a mystery writer who gets to tag along with a NYC detective because He is poker buddies with the Mayor. It's a bit hammy but other than dealing with murder and mayhem there's not much that's over their heads. My daughter now wants to be a mystery writer or a detective. She also likes Ghost Hunters International on the Syfy Channel.

On A&E we have gotten into two shows: Billy the Exterminator and Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Pawn Stars on The History Channel is great for me and sometimes captures their attention.

Breaking Bad is a really good family show. Has really good morals in it. Plus it's got the dad from Malcolm in the Middle and we all know he does kid friendly shows. Also Dead Wood. You can get it pretty cheap on Amazon. It will definitely teach your kids some new words.

If you have HBO #1 Lady Detective is great for kids and I enjoy them as an adult also.
