Q: whats the real difference between a 2 and 3 (SG and SF)? Everyone on this board keeps saying Ariza can't play SG so I am curious as to whats the difference besides height in the two wing positions... I've never played organized ball or anything. I know Ariza usually guards the 2 (the Wades and Kobes) and all but why is it that everyone keeps saying he cant play it. I'm just wondering cause if a trade happened as to where we brought in a better SF (i.e. Carmelo or Danny or Iggy) does that mean Ariza cant start at the two? I always thought that when Kmartin came in and his (Ariza) shooting percent got better being he didnt have to create on his own and to where spacing was wider that slashing was easier for him. Why wouldnt the same be if a good SF came in?
Similarities: Stars in these positions usually dominate the ball Differences: SG usually handles it better, shoots it better SF usually are stronger, taller
Off topic... on your signature. Why would Indiana do that? I don't know bout the lengths of the contracts, is that why?
lawl, bad titling? Ok, now I know not everyone says he cant SG but does anyone have any idea as to why Ariza cant play the SG position. Many on this board have knocked his abilites. I understand the height issue but that shouldnt be the issue. Is there a checklist? To be sg..... One that Ariza maybe failed in other peeps eyes?
This was pre Brad signing. But lets see. This was off some other rumor I think that Indiana might 'remold'. This was just an offer to keep them running and honestly 2 strong scorers for one. Plus I think like 3 or 4 of thier starters are on the last year contract. I couldnt add much more as to the size of a sig but Posey would have been added if NO wanted all major contracts gone.
SFs tend to be more versatile than SGs while typical SGs tend to score more, handle the ball, get their own shot and sorts. Trevor struggles in most of these areas. While Ariza can't score prolifically like a SG, he is asked to defend a teams better scorer, more times than naught, a SG. Doesn't mean he can't play in a SGs role, but he's just not a good one lol.
The Center-Point Guard continuum is such that as you advance in it, you get progressively better at handling the ball and passing, and worse at rebounding and shotblocking.
