I would try to make a move using our trade assets & picks for the following and in this order, its obvious you can't get all of them. I would be happy if you had to make a move, that it would be one of these guys.

Gerald Wallace-Laker Killer, like ariza but better.
Marc Gasol-7' 1"-good trade partner in Memphis has been for years.
Marcin Gortat-Last best thing available without having to give up the world for him.
Michael Pietrus-Nice player can hit the three, play defense.

I would LOVE to have gerald wallace on this team. he's been on my wish list for a few years now. as far as non-superstars, I think he's be a perfect addition.

Commas always were confusing to me: The way I read the Quote, Scola refused a better offer with New Jersey??? The Rockets offer 5 yrs at $47 million vs New Jersey offering a package worth $55 million for 5 yrs with the NJ package also heavily front-end loaded? Plus Scola says his Rockets deal is good for 7 or 8 years? I thought the Rockets matched the NJ offer? What are we missing here?

Quote:"With indications that the New Jersey Nets had decided to chase Scola with a five-year, $55 million contract, heavily front-loaded and with a $9.5 million signing bonus, the Rockets offered a five-year, $47 million contract and Scola quickly accepted, rather than to wait for another offer or return to the Spanish League".

Personally, I want Paul as our next "star"...but if Morey wants to go under the radar, I think he can go for Granger.

I think it was more along the lines of the Nets were going to make this offer, so the Rockets stepped up their offer to Scola. I don't think they would have matched if Scola signed that offer sheet and frankly I don't know if I would have wanted them to.

Iguodala or Granger = Championship... Just say no the Chris Paul.. he wants to play in NY with Carmelo anyway. and to me, he's the type that would act like Lebron rather than remain loyal.

I agree about the only trades that would make sense would be for Iggy or Granger, but only if Battier were involved in the trade instead of Ariza.
Something like Battier, Hill and picks for Granger would be the top choice. Getting Paul or Iggy would almost be like lateral trades seeing as we already have Ariza and Brooks.

It was obvious that Scola wanted to stay and play for the Rockets.

Figure in state income taxes and cost of living and he's making more money here.

The rockets would have matched any offer. Les and Morey both said that before FA started. They basically took the mystery out of it and made an offer to Scola before the Nets did so there was no need to match obviously.....also, and im not 100% sure on this part, but my guess is that Morey was concerned that once the Nets set a market for him, that Euro would come calling...and Im not so sure that a euro offer falls under the category of us being able to retain him as long as we match it

I think Morey was more worried about the signing bonus being so big that it would KILL Les in Lux tax this season.

OK, but where dp you think Scola is coming from when he talks about more that 5 years with the Rockets - is there an option in the contract do you think for either party to extend the contract?

    Please re-read the following sentence:

"This contract guarantees I'm going to play in the NBA a lot more years, seven or eight years overall."

im glad rockets matched on lowry, just seems to be a great fit for this team, on the court and in the locker room. Can't wait for training camp to start.

you serious? brooks is the most turnover prone point guard in the league with the ball in his hands with the shot clock/game clock winding down. i will agree that he is dangerous with the ball in his hands to make a play. BUT the ball in his hands when we have the last shot is SCARY as a rocket fan.

How can we sign a backup point guard for the kind of money we did. That leaves us zero room to do anyhting else. was he that special???

Brooks has hit enough clutch shots. The opponents are as scary as you when they see Brooks has the ball.

he has hit clutch shots, but he turns it over towards the end of the shot clock or game clock at least a third of the time.
