One of the best role players ever, I thought he was the perfect fit when he came to Houston. We had three guys that were avg 17pts a game in Mad Max, OT and Kenny so we had the scorers to go with the best center there was. All we were missing on offense was a sf with speed to keep up with Max and Kenny and a good entry passer to get the ball down to OT and Hakeem. He brought that and more with 3pt shooting.

As for defense he had the quickness to lock down the perimeter and the length that could help on rotation. Just solid as a weak side defender to help his team mates. His steals and blocks stats show that.

The only thing I would beat him up on is his passiveness to become the 2nd or 3rd best player on a team. It's like he didn't want to be a go-to guy but showed the talent to be one. He didn't really show up in games unless it was important. I still remember that game against Phoenix during his second regular season when he had 10 dunks just in the first half of the game mostly on drives.

I would love to have a young Horry on our team now, would be like having Battier's defense + Landry's quickness on offensive drives and putbacks + brooks 3pt shooting all in one not to mention the ability to get the ball down low to a Yao which we sorely lack.

Exactly. Horry also took it easy for most of the year for Rockets and decided to show up late season.

Still, gotta love him for what he did when he did decide to 'show up'.
