    First!

He is better than shaq, only kareem is better imo. Wilt and Russell had no competition, the game wasn't modernized.

This, except I think Dream is better than even Kareem. Dreamshake > Skyhook imho, also the Dream is more well rounded to me.

Correction: Kareem and Wilt were the only ones better.

What sucked for Dream is that he had to rely on the national media, and they were never that fascinated by him. I remember watching the Sports Reporters every week and getting ticked off that they'd talk about the NBA but never mention the Rockets or Dream. It took a Championship to change some of that, but it wasn't until Dream crushed everyone for his second ring that the national media started giving him his dues.

    I think so.

    Freakish to say the least.

If he was in high school right now he'd get LeBron like media attention.

Because he did not get enough number of the rings.

Barkley and Malone are underrated even more.

I think what contributed to it was his personality. He never self-marketed himself the same way other athletes did...one noteworthy example was his Starter shoe label and not going with Nike. He also didnt provide 'sound bytes' that the media loved; he was always mild mannered in interviews and I cant remember him saying something outlandish that got him any flack. Thats why you have mediocre/slightly above average athletes in guys like Rodman who became celebrities with a number of endorsements while Hakeem never got his due.

In a sense, I feel like there are a lot of parallels between him and Robinson in this regard, although Hakeem was clearly the superior player between the two.

Yes! good point, I never thought about that.

Look at how Nike (and perhaps Gatorade/Powerade) and championships usually cements "media" greatness.

I don't think so. Despite never being proclaimed the best to ever do it, he still gets love.

He is still in the conversation when bringing up best centers ever.

Just because he is not at the top of everyone's list means he is most underrated.

Believe me, he is one of my favorites of all time. But, the fact that the Rockets are never talked down upon for not picking the GOAT (by many) in Jordan is a huge compliment.

Kareem , imo, is most underrated player ever, i mean, even i don't like Laker, for what Kareem has done. It's surprised to see his place on the top lists is going down everytime.
