Yes, a buzzer beater away from having a CHANCE at beating the Lakers! Very funny sir. That's why Amare left, right? Because he was so close to winning a ring with the Suns. Don't tell me it was because the Knicks offered two more years. People don't leave contenders to languish on perennial losers unless they aren't really leaving a contender.
they were not far away. One Grant Hill in prime or elite defender say younger Artest would have done it In general a smarter GM would have brought a ship
Put Jefferies in Battiers place and I'm sold. Battier is the most overrated defender on the Rockets. Holding a player to 25 points on average is not good. Contesting a shot is better than that hand to the face thing he does. Kobe and Carmelo said they don't even notice it when he does that. Jefferies contest the shooting hand, the most basic fundamental in basketball. Can you tell I don't care for this guy. Can you say Rudy Gay... you have got to be kidding me Carrol Dawson. Lowery Buddinger Patterson Hill Miller Now this is a five (Don't lock Patterson into 4, at 3 they have to defend him on the offensive end).
Yes, one STARTER away from a championship - not one bench player. How many teams say they are one bench player away from a ring? When is the last time you heard that? Orlando, Cleveland? You think a Grant HIll in his prime is a bench player? You think a younger Artest is on the bench? No way. A deep bench can back-fire big-time as it creates in-fighting because you have too many good players not getting enough playing time - that's exactly what happened in Portland.
This post is hilarious. Can you imagine DaDa saying anything remotely close to this now, instead of singing the praises of the 14th guy on the roster?
I almost think it might be better at this point to see if Yao can play at a high level and then make a trade if he can. Unless of course we can get CP3 or Melo right now.
The thing i'm most happy about is if we have an injury to any of the second stringers we wont miss a beat because our 3rd string guy who steps in will be almost just as good. Say that Hill is hurt and misses 2 weeks. We still have Patterson, Hayes, Jeffries, and Miller. If Budinger is hurt and misses 3 weeks, we still have Battier and Taylor. The only weakness I see is at the point guard position if someone gets hurt. We saw what happened when Lowry went down last year. We were a totally different team for that time being.
There's more to looking at how a player plays defense other than just looking at the amount of points a player gives up to their opponent. When it takes a player 25+ shots to get this 25ppg...i think that's pretty damn good defense. i'm not sure if you're ever played basketball or not, but if you contest the SHOOTING HAND, you're more prone to FOULING the shooting hand...which makes your defense LESS EFFICIENT...that's kind of common sense. And the BASIC FUNDAMENTAL in DEFENSE in BASKETBALL...you get a hand in the FACE, and not the hand... I kinda agree here, and kinda dont.. I didnt think that trade hurt us at the time. Rudy Gay was raw and was going to need playing time to flourish. He wasn't going to get any playing time under JVG...especially since he was never a fan of playing Rookies. I was never a big fan of CD, but that was one move that made sense for the team and personnel we had at the time. Especially in order to get rid of the biggest scrub FA signing in recent history (Stro Swift).
I still feel that way.....a bench is overated, we have a very deep team, but the starters win the games, for the most part....... The bench is important but starters are 3 times as important IMO. Everyone should be striving to be a starter....on our bench we have a couple of guys that will probably start one day. Kyle Lowry & Chase Budinger are eventual starters...maybe Pat Pat (too early to tell), and Jordan Hill (Lots of work to do before that happens).... The rest are 25%ers at best.... I would rather have the best starting lineup than the best bench.....every day of the week. And please stop quoting Sam, he comes into every thread and posts about me, trying to stir crap up, I think he is in love or something. DD
As far as I know you can only carry 12 on your active roster. Looks to me that the Rockets have way more than 12 players, meaning someone is going to get cut or traded or mysteriously end up on IR. I guess maybe Jermaine Taylor has plantar fasciitis?
Dude, get over yourself. Your girth is surpassed by your ego. Here is what happened. Somebody posted a thread a few years ago in the heart of the Moochie/Terrence Morris etc era bragging about our depth. I thought it was a poignant reminder of times past, much like the bite of a madeline and a cup of tea spurred a Proustian tome many years ago. It's not my fault you were all over that thread posting up a storm and regaling us with the same shallow amalgam of preconceptions that you bludgeon us with on a daily basis - more like a coincidence - which, given your enormous posting volume, is true of most threads. Oh and somebody please quote this so that big boy has to read it. Though it's not really necessary since he makes a point of clicking on all my posts anyway.
That rule was changed a few years ago. You can keep 15 players but only 12 can be on your active roster. You can put the other 3 on the inactive roster. ie - you don't have to lie anymore about those other 3 and create mysterious injuries for players like Mike Harris. Edit - that said we will have to cut 1 person or do a 2 for 1 trade before the season begins.
