When Yao and T-Mac were out, Aaron Brooks was able to take full advantage and win the MIP.

Toronto, Cleveland, and Utah have lost star players. It opens up lots of opportunity for the young players to flourish.

New York has no established 2nd/3rd options.

Who do you think will be in the running for MIP and why?

I vote someone in Toronto, but I don't know who. They have some talent, and they lost a big chunk of stats (little else) in Bosh.

    Brad Miller.

He will take advantage of Yao's injury.

Yeah but Utah replaced Boozer with Al Jefferson so it doesn't really open up anything for Utah.

    My vote is Anthony Randolph.

This is the hardest award to predict before the season starts.

Bargnani will become a border line all star since he can play the four now, he'll win MIP.

He averaged 17 and 6 this year. He'd have to get like 25 and 8 to win MIP. Not likely...

    Cold.

I'm guessing a Thunder player, assuming they are a top 4 seed in the West.

Ariza might end up as one of the most improved players in the league next year with Yao coming back. He won't be asked to be a creator and that will help him a lot. However, his scoring average isn't going to jump up, so he has no chance of winning MIP.

Definitely someone in Cleveland or Toronto has the best chance. Also if someone gets injured for the season it could open up opportunities for others.
