It seems there are some truth behind the smoke with Igoudala coming. Philly fans on realgm think they should get more in terms of players, but their management knows that Iggy's contract is pretty nasty. So if they do trade him, they'll have to settle for 60 cents on the dollar in terms of talent in return. Iggy also fits this team as a facilitator. We all know Martin plays off the ball, and Brooks isn't the sharpest passer around. Having that distributor works for this team because it's an area of need. Plus, Iggy can replace Ariza/Battier in terms of defense. His lack of shooting ability is a concern, but I'm sure one that Morey and Adelman know how to handle. Granger is nothing compared to Carmelo Anthony or Deron Williams. Personally, I wouldn't mind a lineup of Yao, Scola, Melo, Martin, DWill.
Almost every Rocket fan would prefer Granger over Iggy. The question is, is Danny even available? Larry Bird hasn't shown any interest in moving him. We stand a better chance trading for CP3 than him since Chris Paul has been rumored that he's unhappy in New Orleans.
Philly has excess, while the Pacers don't. Iggy and Thad are basically the same kind of player except Thad is younger and making far less coin. Both will have to play SF this season.
I like the deal and would probably do it, but can Iggy play OFF the ball? If not, it could be a Richard Jefferson with the Spurs type of deal. DD
Alley Oop much??? Even if he has to adjust his game, I mean, he is 26, he will figure it out Plus now we can have 3 guys that can shoot the 3 ball, but they can easily pump fake, and finish near the rim on our starting lineup PeAcE
I like Iggy, but admittadly I have not watched him much, I was just wondering if he could catch and shoot? And does he move off the ball, or does he wait to do everything off the bounce? DD
Yes, he can play off the ball. How about Yao or Miller at the high post with Martin and Iggy running around on cuts. How about Iggy creating shots for Martin and Brooks? This is Adelman's offense, not Popovich's that are more focused on Duncan with Jefferson at the 3pt line. I think there is more movement and cutting in Houston's offense. I can see the scenario with Jefferson, but I think Houston is better equipped to deal with that skill set than SA with their offensive sets.
Except, correct me if I am wrong, but Jefferson was noticeably older than Iggy when he moved to the Spurs.
No one can answer what kind of a player he is most efficient, because in Philly he has to do everything Off the ball, he makes a lot of cuts to the hoop, and then you know his ability to jump is crazy If your question is playing like Cbud, rip, and make that mid-jumper, he can play like that, but instead of making consistent jumpers, it is not his fort, he would probably make more aggressive cuts, and live at the line, but yes he can hit that mid-range jumper I think the really question of how Iggy can help us, is his ability, to hit the open 3, CONSISTENTLY or not Because people can start disrespecting his ability to do so, and double Yao, letting him alone at the 3pt line. That should not be a problem, because of the aggressive cuts he likes to do, but you know, hitting the 3 ball consistently never hurt you, so let´s see What I am expecting is more energy, even more then Ariza, and the ability to play Lock down Perimeter Defense, in which Battier excels/ed, and were Ariza still lacks I don´t question his ability to hit the 3, I think he can develop on that plus his mid-range game, he has a good looking jump shot, Iggy is a guy that I think stabilized his game, and if he was on a winning team, can easily be an all-star every year He has the potential, let´s hope he is a Rox until the beginning of the season, so he and teammates can gel until the playoffs PeAcE
If I am open I can make that jay too The problem is, when you playing for rings, you rarely have open jays, and there is the part of the game he will improve, CONSISTENTLY shoot that mid-jumper contested or not, and shoot CONSISTENTLY the 3pt shot, only if he is a Rox of course PeAcE
And believe me, I am not hating on Iggy ability to jump shoot. I had very hight hopes for this guy, and I continue to have, he is still young, but for him to be a star like I think he can, he has to do hit more of those he hit against LA, and I am not talking about buzzer beaters, I am talking about regular games in the beginning of the game, whenever, because against teams like Boston, if you can´t make shots when contested, it will be a very long game But he is not a Rox yet, so ...... PeAcE
I don't see why we have to give up Jordan Hill when we obviously have the leverage in a Iggy Trade. Given that we really don't need Iggy, Philly's the one that's trying to get out of paying the remainder of Iggy's contract. If anything they'd be lucky to get Jermaine Taylor and a 2nd round draft pick in addition to Ariza & Jeffries! --RB
usually in a trade where you're dealing quantity for quality, the team with the quality has the leverage. put another way - if they were to just put iggy out on the open market, they could get a certain value for him, and that's the value the rockets would be expected to match in a relatively private trade like this.
who is the sixer's GM? what kind of deals has he made in the past? Does Collins really like Iggy or are there players on our team that he hearts?
But that quality comes with a not so pretty contract. I would do this deal if the Sixers were willing to give up Mareese Speights instead of Jason Smith.
