Everyone has been complaining for weeks about getting a backup center. Well, now we have one. What's next on the agenda? Is this it? This is our final championship roster? Brooks/Lowry/ Martin/Budinger/Taylor Ariza/Battier Scola/Patterson/Hill Yao/Miller/Hayes Is the puzzle finished? Or are we missing a piece...
How many options are still available for the Rockets? (MLE, etc.) How much cap room do they still have?
I think you have to start looking at using the depth to improve the quality of the rotation, if you make moves at all.
We can always upgrade positions via trade, but that's it. We're in the luxury tax and just used our MLE, so there's not much else to do. As usual, though, I expect Morey to be constantly looking to upgrade all the way until the trade deadline.
i'd like to have an experienced veteran third string pg, for the minimum. This group is a lot younger than many of us realize and point guard position has a higer combination or inexperience and youth than the other positions. That's not good within such an important spot. However, i think our pgs are smart and talented enough to just need a mentor and they'll continue to absorb knowledge. As much as we ragged on Rafer and his play, he helped brooks settle into the pg spot a lot. I cant think of any vets right now though...ill have to look that up
Hopefully we do end up improving by the trade deadline. Granted this is one of the most complete teams the Rockets have assembled during this decade... but it just feels like something is missing. And unlike the McGrady era, the answer is not "heart".
Would have to move someone to do that. By my count, the Rockets have 15 guaranteed contracts already.
1. A reliable superstar who can produce in any situation. 2. need one more starter who can handle the ball other than Brooks. nothing has changed. Rockets have a very long way to go.
Healthy 7'6 footer size 18 feet. Rock solid top 5 in the NBA defense. We are deep, talented and a contender like Adelman's old Sacramento teams. But we cannot undo the defensive foundation JVG laid down. Those Sacramento teams were soft on defense and never won it all despite great records and amazing talent. With the exception of mike bibby, they also did not have a killer instinct to win it all (Chris webber was notoriously mentally weak in big games).
The Rockets still have the bi-annual exception of $2.08 million, $3 million TPE from the McGrady trade, and the vet min. The roster's pretty locked as there are already 15 guaranteed contracts unless there's a trade, but the Rockets still need a consolidation deal that would get another star player ala Iggy, but I won't be expecting a splash deal until the trade deadline.
I knew there was a bad reason why i couldnt think of any....not many out there...Ollie may be it...and A Johnson...or ACarter via trade. I dont care if Kidd sucks when he retires, we need to get him here around that time just to mentor our guards. .
We NEED a 3rd PG because when Lowry went down last year we didn't do very well. If we get a 3rd PG I think we are set to go. I think Andersen or Jefferies are expendable.
