Or maybe they'll trade him because they think Iguodala and Turner won't work together well, like the Kings with Martin and Evans
At 6'6", how is his interior defense? Going against bigger teams like the Lakers, I would be more concerned with our size.
That's the exact thinking I was going through when I said that. Granger seems to be more and more untouchable every time I think about it. So if the Pacers aren't willing to give him up right now, I say we go for Iggy.
Kobe is 6'6", Iguodala would guard him and maybe the Rockets would let Artest jack up threes like a lot of teams do
Another note on Iggy, he has had to be the primary playmaker, essentially a point forward for the Sixers since Iverson was traded 15 games into the 06-07 season. When you rewind Iggy's statistics, his rookie season was 04-05. He played two years as Iverson's sidekick. Incidentally, those were his two best shooting years, 50% from the floor, and 34% from three. In his last full season working alongside Iverson on an otherwise crappy Philly team, he had an amazing 1.46 points per shot, an amazing Kevin Martinlike stat, based on his good shooting and getting to the FT line and knocking them down. If you don't think he can shoot, you have to remember, Iggy has been taking every big shot, every bail out shot, every end of the quarter, half, and game shot, and every running out the clock shot for the Sixers for the last 4 years. That's gonna effect his shooting percentages some. And he takes virtually the same amount of free throws per field goal attempt as Dwayne Wade, while shooting better than Wade from distance. Now, after all that, look at his form on this 3-ball. How many of those wide open three ball shots is he gonna get if he is playing alongside Yao, Martin, Brooks? Good Lord, everybody is gonna be able to read the label before they fire. His 3 point percentage will jump to the 38% range on the Rox. And how many wide open dunks and 1s will he get racing up and down with Lowry? His PPS will go right back to Iverson days if he is traded to the Rockets.
People pointed out what they liked more about Iggys, game, some said he is overpaid, etc, etc Actually what I like about him, is his ability to play games after games after games, with the same phisical entencity, even if his game is off, meaning that this guy, for me, is 2nd to Lebron, in physical tools/freakishness And that is why for me, he is not overpaid, I prefer paying him 10 plus Millions, knowing that he will play 80 games every single season, than playing 10M just for just Talent, with little injuries bugging the player in almost every game I will not talk more about how I like IGGy without him being a Rox, I will only say his ability to jump, his long long arms(PHYSICAL TOOLS), and his talent, makes me not bother loosing Ariza, even tho I am one of the few that really thinks that Ariza fits a perfect role in Houston PeAcE
Yeah but Iguodala is a SF. Also if Iggy guards Kobe, that puts Kevin Martin on Artest and Artest would just post him up because there's no way Kevin Martin can overpower Artest in the post. Iggy may be an athletic freak and looks bigger due to his bulk, but I was surprised to find out he was only 6'6-6'7 which is about the same height as Kevin Martin. Anyways this is how he compares to Ariza: Andre Iguodala Height w/o Shoes: 6' 5.75" Height w/ Shoes: 6' 6.75" Weight: 217 Wingspan: 6' 11" Standing Reach: 8' 9.5" No Step Vert: 30.5 Max Vert: 34.5 Trevor Ariza Height w/o Shoes: 6' 7" Height w/ Shoes: 6' 8.25" Weight: 201 Wingspan: 7' 2" Standing Reach: 8' 11.5" No Step Vert: 29.5 Max Vert: 32.0 Although there's a big difference between size, Iggy makes it up with his athleticism. Also just to be fair, the Laker's starting SF, Ron Artest, is only 6' 6"-6' 7". So Martin/Iguodala would match evenly in height with Kobe/Artest.
They still have Hill, Patterson, Yao, and Scola...now Brad Miller, someone's moving...not enough time for all of them about 2 hours ago via Echofon in reply to filipefurtado http://twitter.com/sebastianpruiti
This was the latest post from sixerfan76 on the realgmboard (he posted it today; and keep in mind, the guy seems pretty legit, according to many posters there): ------------------------ with houston just signing brad miller to a 3 year 15 million dollar deal..keep an eye on that houston deal now. they got scola and miller locked up long term....and yao returning so they could definitely afford to part with jordan hill. they become a top 4 team in the west if they get iguodala in my opinion(and yao stays healthy) lowry, battier, brad miller off bench...brooks,martin,iguodala,scola,yaho as starters. dont know anything new but i heard we been talking to houston alot this week. sixerfan1976
Hate to burst your bubble, but it's already been posted over 2 hours ago. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5454432&postcount=231 People here are on their game.
LOL. If we can get the Lakers' offense to run through Artest and his post-up game, THAT IS AN EPIC WIN! on the flipside, neither Kobe or Artest are equipped to guard Martin. We would have the offensive edge on 3/5 positions + a deeper bench.
Yes, that would be nice. But it's not possible. They're gonna run through Kobe and Pao as long as Phil, Kobe, and Pao are there. But for a 5th option, Artest posting up Kevin Martin..........is a win for the Lakers. However, with Iggy and if we somehow retain Battier or re-sign him after we trade him and he is bought out, we have two very good defenders at the swing position to make Kobe have to work for everything he gets. My point about Kevin Martin Ron Artest is the Lakers aren't so dumb to set Ron stand out there and chuck if we've taken everything else away (very doubtful if we could even do that).
Now that Miller is signed, we are obviously serious about winning now. I say that we trade Budinger+Andersen+Jeffries+Ariza for Thad Young and AI. Yao/Miller Scola/Patterson or Young sometimes. AI/Young/Battier Martin/Battier/Taylor Brooks/Lowry I think Young would add an interesting aspect to our team and Battier is rendered to pretty much a defensive specialist and situational guy.
It looks all in this season. Hope Morey does the deal to go all in. If not we could certainly live without Iggy. Can Philly continue to over pay the guy? I dont know? Les wants to for them though and they have a young guy to replace him. So its really all up to Philly. I trust they will go the other way finally on Iggy. Its kind of time for a restart for him and them.
I'd throw thm Battier instead of Ariza, NY's 2012 pick, but would prefer to keep Budinger. Iggy doesn't really have a 3P shot which Morey and Adelman value as well as Yao.
I like this proposed deal we're working with Philly on but am I the only one who rather get Granger than Iggy? Both are great players but I believe that Granger has a better 3pt percentage and a better contract? Maybe it's just me...
