Like Morey is going to sit on that lineup for the rest of the season... LOL. There's so much whining about not signing about a stud, people aren't taking the time to look at our roster an realize Morey will be trading for one within the next 6-7 months.

Considering the lack of choices out there (as someone said, 7 foot, shot-blocking, tough, athletic centers do not fall out of the tree everyday), I think this was a very solid move. He "might" be overpaid... but we will see when the time comes.

smart teams sign joel anthony for 5 years 18 mil which is 3.6 million a year which is less than 5 million a year which is thus cheaper and joel anthony is black.

rocket need to focus on players like joel anthony, ricky davis tim thomas and didier mbenga who are cheaper and black.

many pfs whoat different between morey and kahn?

Don't why people are upset, once you're over the tax you're over. Other than Les no one should care how much money we spent.

finally a voice of reason .. i think what people fail to understand is all we can offer is expiring contracts and no team wants to take that on right now .. but once the season starts and they are losing money indy or philli might be more inclined to give up their long term contracts for expiring ones...
the same people that would have whined about rockets not getting neone .. are the same ones that are whining about rockets supposedly overpaying for someone.. u cant please some people i guess

Don't expect any great deal this season involving expiring contracts. Too many teams have open cap space or trade exceptions. They'' get the best deals firsts and we will be left with crap unless we are willing to give up picks.

No, it's not. The Rockets chose at the deadline to prioritize Kevin Martin, Scola and Lowry ahead of getting a star this offseason. The only way you get the cap room to get in the door with the top free agents (and even then, the elite level guys clearly were only interested in Miami) is to pass on Martin and renounce Scola, Lowry and Hayes. You also wouldn't sign Miller. So, assuming Morey can't change the Miami situation, you'd be giving up Martin, Scola, Lowry, Hayes, Miller and the NYK first rounders... for Landry and Boozer/Al Jefferson. That's what it would have taken to get a "real" star this offseason. I don't think it's worth it.

That said, yes, the Rockets do need another star, and they've positioned themselves well with assets and expiring contracts to make a play for one. Problem is, if a team were to deal Igoudala/Paul/Granger RIGHT NOW for a package of assets and expirings, they'd be compromising ticket sales by admitting defeat before the season even starts. Not to mention paying the full bill to guys like Jared Jeffries. The Rockets have a good shot to get a star, but it's probably not going to happen until the season. That's just how it goes.

Don't be surprised if Indiana, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Denver or San Antonio look to move big pieces around the trade deadline. Just because a lot of teams have open space doesn't mean there won't be plenty still looking to deal.

I really like the signing because it gives us something we are uncertain about next season in Yao. However I would have liked to see a bigger push for Brendan Haywood. Just my opinion.

    QFT

The Sixers and Pacers can unload Iggy or Granger anytime they want because they have the assets that people want.

Why pay all of JJ's or any other slapies expiring contract when you can wait till febuary and pay Half the amount and still reap the full reward of the contract.

Its the same reason the Kings waited till the deadline to move Martin they got to see Martin and Evans play together for a while and the only had to pay half a season worth of the expiring contract they took on.

I just don't get why we did. I thought Jordan was going back-up that position.
