I just watched it. Great movie. I welled up a couple times through the movie and actually cried at the end which is pretty rare for me. I don't think it was difficult to watch like other have said, but I don't have kids.

I almost turned it off. That was hard to watch.

But wow. I don't think a film has ever brought up emotions like that in me.

This is very highly recommended. But wow.

    I'm speechless.

    I just finished watching this....

went through a roller coaster of emotions. I couldn't look at that piece of dog s***'s face after the twist near the end. That was very enraging. I'm a man of God and I pray that woman and all other women like her (yates, etc) get the most severe punishment in the Hellfire.

Hearing her voice after I knew what she did was just very very discomforting. The law truly let society down.

Not that she wasn't accountable, but she was clearly messed up in the head.

The problem is the many sane people in positions of authority that allowed it to happen.

God bless Kate and David.. I cannot imagine having to go thru what they've gone thru... tragic story indeed... this documentary has helped and will continue to help in bringing changes to the laws in Canada

Movie was decent, but not mindblowing. Or maybe was a bit overhyped after reading all the previous responses. I didn't really feel anything toward any of the characters. It seemed the film maker was trying to villainize the Canadian authorities, but they appeared to be doing their jobs. Sad set of circumstances though.

Just when I think you say the dumbest thing, you set a higher standard. Honestly don't know why it surprises me at this point.

Old thread is old, but I just watched this tonight and I can't shake it. This film, like no other I've seen, took my emotions from one distant end of the spectrum to the other, and back again. It will very likely rip you up inside, but it delivers some valuable messages along the way.

So even if only one person sees this film because I bump this thread, then I feel this post is one of the most meaningful I've contributed to this board in 6 years.

For those who have seen it, please click below.

Zachary's Bill became law in Canada just 30 days ago. :)

Thank you for that last part, you just made my day.

And no other film has ever made me experience emotions like Dear Zachary did. Truly one of the best documentaries ever

I watched this with my uncle (RIP) last year and we were both pissed. One of the best documentaries I have ever watched.

Well, I cried like a little b**** at the end.

Incredible doesnt even begin to describe the raw emotion behind the film.

I really hope everyone gets to see this film atleast once in their lives...really puts in perspective just how much you can be, and are, loved.

Sorry for bumping a semi old thread, but I didn't see what this movie is rated... I wanna watch it soon, and I'm deciding if I should watch it in front of some of my family members. Is it appropriate for most ages? Thanks.

The movie is listed as "Unrated", but I'd say it's clearly not a movie for children under the age of about 13. There are aspects of the movie that a fully grown, well-adjusted adult will have trouble coming to grips with. Not the kinds of things you'll want to have to explain to a kid. There is also some harsh language during at least one part of the movie.

Personally, I'm not sure I would watch this in front of anyone.

FYI to anyone thinking about watching this through Netflix streaming...

It looks like it's only available through 2/24/2011.

It's not exactly a mainstream movie, so this is by far the easiest way to get your hands on it.
