I will agree that Iggy is a better player than Ariza, but is he a better fit for this team? Playing Iggy at the SF would definitely make us a much smaller defensive team. I like the way that Ariza could guard the bigger SF's, but also switch to guard the SG's.
Looking back at last season's stats, Ariza did much better toward the end of the year. In the month of April, he shot 49% from the field & 44% from behind the arc. Once the Rockets decided he wasn't a go-to-guy, his game improved.

Iggy is a smarter, better defender than Ariza and he can guard both small forwards and shooting guards as well.

Iggy is only 6'6", can he guard some of the taller forwards? One thing that the Rockets really like about Ariza is his length.

This is the problem the Rockets face.

I want to see if Ariza can flourish in a system that has Yao down in the middle of it. The problem is, if you wait too long, you lose any chance at getting Iggy because more teams could notice that they need a SF/SG type to put them over the top... and they could be willing to give up much more than the Rockets could to get it.

And those percentages mean very little. I mean, Iggy shot 54% from the field and 50% from 3-point range in April.

    Iguodala's standing reach is 8'9.5''

    Battier's standing reach is 8'9''

My bad - your right. Typo in my sig. I'm dumping it anyway - I don't think anyone really cares about what I thought ;-)

If you can move Battier or Ariza with Hill and Jeffries you go ahead and do it. As long as our draft picks aren't involved I'll be happy.

If we don't lose anything defensively, I would be all for getting Iggy. One thing that I don't like about his game is his 3 pt shooting. He has a great shooting percentage inside the arc, but tends to shoot the three way too much. Most of us didn't like Ariza when he started jacking all those 3's and Iggy has averaged about 300 three's over the past 3 seasons, shooting a dismal 31-32 %. Let's leave those 3's to guys like Brooks & Martin.

Good point. I'd be surprised if this wasn't Morey's mentality, too. The Rockets need to come out of the gate fast and have continuity all season. After last season, I think management probably is thinking along these lines too.

How long do you guys think it will take the 76ers to "get back to us?"

Not sure if this was posted, but it's from the Sixers insider:

With singing of Miller, I'd rather part with Patterson than Hill. (if we do a Philly trade)

Jordan Hill to me is the better PF of the two.

Huge fail on my part. The post right above me has it. Ha! :p

I think the rumored trade is Ariza + Hill + Jeffries for Iguodala + Jason Smith. If we throw in one of the Knicks pick, I think the Rockets would want young talent from the Sixers (like Speights). But, I doubt a pick would be needed in the trade, since both teams would get what they need.

    Brooks/Lowry
    Martin/Budinger/Taylor
    Iguodala/Battier
    Scola/Patterson/Hayes
    Yao/Miller/Andersen

    WE (would be) STAAAAAAACKED son!

My fear is that the longer these talks go on, they more likely that means that Philly is asking for an asset that Morey does not want to part with. Getting Iggy though would definitely put us in the WCF is all goes to plan (Yao healthy).

The thing i like about Iggy is his relentless attacking the basket. Did you see how much free throw attempts this guy get per year??? Isn't that the same amount as Martin? And the fact that he has 5 or 6 assists per game tell me he create shot for others too....which is perfect for this team. Ariza and Martin are not your typical go-2-guy. They only attack when they see an opportunity. But Iggy can create his own shot i think.

Can someone who've watched a lot of Iggy give a breakdown of his game and what he would bring to the Rockets?

Sixers board talking about giving up green instead of smith but they want budinger. Green as SG could work but he's undersized.
