50? is that the age of senility? ha.

Frankly those of us 55 to 65 have more of a tradition of opposition to right wing policies and free thought than most of the rest of America. But I will admit many of my old friends that I burnt draft cards with, broke down racial barriers in newly integrated schools with, dropped acid with, have gone Louie Gohmert crazy up in East Texas.

Maybe those under 30 folks who have never known anything but a Bush presidency don't understand that government is how civilized people apply order to the unscrupulous nature of man.

Actually, in my heart of hearts, I am hoping this signals the return of the great Brian Kagy, aka L. Hutz.

    Why are they not taxed???

    http://www.latimes.com/features/religion/la-oew-lynn-stanley23-2008sep23,0,2226105.story

In its 1970 opinion in Walz vs. Tax Commission of the City of New York, the high court stated that a tax exemption for churches "creates only a minimal and remote involvement between church and state and far less than taxation of churches. [An exemption] restricts the fiscal relationship between church and state, and tends to complement and reinforce the desired separation insulating each from the other." The Supreme Court also said that "the power to tax involves the power to destroy." Taxing churches breaks down the healthy separation of church and state and leads to the destruction of the free exercise of religion.

The Constitution does not mandate it; and indeed, even the decision you cite -- the Walz case -- doesn't say that tax exemptions are required by the 1st Amendment. In general, governments believed that churches along with other types of community groups enhanced and supplemented government services such as feeding the hungry, housing those in need of shelter and in general using private funds for public good. (Although this is a debate for another time, I note that more and more religious groups are now asking for a government bailout through the "faith-based initiative" and to keep their tax exemptions.)

A dubious situation indeed when you're dropping acid......... Let's set one thing straight, whether or not you decided to adhere to right wing extremist policies, it was your choice (hanging with family, going to church, shooting guns, etc.). The power of choice and your ability to excercise it within the broadest parameters this world has ever known is a gift. I am an anglophile, and I am mexican. I believe the USA is the greatest country the civilized world has ever known. I have an appreciation for the judeo-christian way of life . I have an appreciation for a country that at one point in time houses a teenage janitor and a few years later graduates him from college. If you were that guy in "Remember the Titans", wonderful, that is admirable and you have my respect as this is the paradox that's obvious. If it wasn't for this push in civil rights for non-whites in the 1960's, I would never have a white wife. My life happened to coincide with the lives of the Bush family as well as their policies. Does that make me less of a man than you? The unscrupulous nature of man is an excuse I never had time for.

I'm a right wing extremist and I didn't even know it. Someday, I'll reach the pinnacle of the American Dream and be able to marry a white women (which I'm not sure if it's related to anything).

Look, I just want to preserve what's left of the white race....is there something wrong with that? I have foregone children out of fear of tainting the delicate balance.

Once again, my abrasive minority approach at humor has garnered ridicule.

American President's inlcuding Nixon have been bowing. It is custom, and wise to do so. Of course he didn't hold hands kiss the Saudi royals like Bush did, or do you even care?

Name one American value that Obama has shown to hate? Name Mullah that Obama bowed to.

You won't be able to, but you believe propaganda rather than look for facts. At least that's what your posts show.

Sigh. Welcome to months ago. Do a search for whatever wingnut meme you happen to want to push and make sure to include the word "basso."

OddsOn, I mean odds are it has been posted before.

You seem to be a feisty, fiery little competitor, but you are going to have to step your game in a bigtexxx way if you want to take the title.
