WAIT for the next NBA 2k, due out in a couple of months. NBA2k10 was a let down and 2ksports knows it which means that the next nba2k will be awesome and very much improved. NBA2k has gone down hill since 2k8, this year is its revival.
Don't get NBA 2k10. It was a big time bust this year. Agree with the other poster, it went downhill since 2k8. Wait till 2k11 and hope its good.
Only because Live (Elite) already had it's revival and shows no signs of slowing down...Guess that's a good thing though...both are great games but Live/Elite seems a little like a arcade game some times
I like Live because I can score 200+ in a game with everyone on my roster on a double-double and a few with a triple-double. win.
2K10 is the best 2K game If you have the sliders adjusted. 2K is one thousand times better than Live.
NBA 2k11 comes out October 5th, if you can wait until then. I agree with 2k10 being a disappointment, but I thought 2k9 was good. NBA2k10 had a lot of bugs, specifically a bug that lagged the game noticeably. It took them about two months to fix from what I remember. Their next game will definitely be a deciding factor to whether I continue to support the series or not. Regardless, it's the best basketball series as of now, IMO.
I've been looking for one too. My last one was NBA 2k8, which was great, though the franchise mode could be a little more realistic. Is it beter in 2k9 and 2k10? And any announced improvements for 2k11? The actual gameplay in 2k8 are fine to me, thats not the biggest part to me though. I like making the moves and stuff in franchise to make a good team. I'm contemplating either buying 2k10 or buying MLB 2010. I just kinda want a good new sports game to play. I'm not that interested in the new Madden because I hated how the last one played and they aren't making any updates to franchise in the new one.
All I've heard so far is that they're changing some of the controls to make it more friendly toward casual gamers and the usual graphical upgrades. I did also hear that they are restructuring their servers from scratch, which was needed.

Take 2K.
I got the 2k insider to boost our team big time throughout the season on 2k10 so that's MY game ! Got them from 82 overall at the beginning to a final rating of 87 overall. Basically everyone that played for us got upgraded in some way. but no one online wanted to houston it seemed like, when they took yao off. I still whooped up on all those lakers/cavs frontrunners with them lol. Next season I'll do the same for sure. 2k11 will be more focus on the online gameplay so I can't wait.
