    Hmmm......

    Shot Blocker..........Check
    Rebounder.............Check
    Dunks/Layups.........Check
Run the court in less than 12 seconds......Check

I'd say he fits what we need and is hardly a poor man's Deke. Unless you are factoring in Deke's charitable contributions and finger wagging skills. Deke only brought 2 out of the 4 factors listed above, unless he was playing out of his mind and scored more than 6 pts in a game.

Thabeet feeds basketball sandwiches all day long, which is pretty much what we need off the bench. The fact that he runs better than Deke is pretty much bonus.

Neither Gasol or Thabeet are a possibility right now. Miller is.

Hasheem Thabeet is a Homeless man's Deke.

Don't ever compare a bust to arguably on of the greatest defensive centers in NBA history.

Thabeet will never ever be a hall of famer.

Why not? It's remotely possible as of this moment but Marc is a competent center, still very far from his potential (he can be better than his brother in my opinion), and seems like a nice guy.

Marc Gasol, perfect for this team, it would be a waste using him as backup center though.

I'm pretty sure that Pau trade was a parting gift from Jerry West to Lakers. Because I'm pretty sure he pulled that trade off then retired as the Griz Gm after that season.
But who knows I personally wouldn't give up that much for him. He's had a good season and a half. But I'd rather see what Hill can do. And there's no way I give Up C-Bud also.

I hope you're talking about the Deke The Rockets got. Which is is still ten times what Thabeet has right now. As far as Career Stats Deke was one of the greatest centers of all time.

Harddadi was more efficient than him and has more offense. I want him.

The fact that they were ridiculed for trading Pau at such a low price makes it LESS likely that they will do that again... not more likely.

When I was a kid, I traded away that Bo Jackson baseball card (the famous one with him wearing football pads and his bat over his shoulders) for 5 pretty good cards. I immediately regretted the deal and was absolutely pissed at myself as all the other guys that were not party to the transaction laughed at me and slapped the new owner of the Bo Jackson card on the back.

So, every time after that, when I was offered a platter of "pretty good" cards for my "Nolan Ryan throwing the football" card, or one of equal rarity, I was MUCH more hesitant to accept the deal. I still have that Nolan Ryan card.

And jeez, if a misguided 26 year old could figure that lesson out...

    (j/k. I was like 9 or 10)

For what we need at the C as of now, i think Oberto is enough.
A defensive minded C, excellent passer, and effective around the basket.
Already played a lot with Scola and will sign for the vet min.

Watch him play alongside Scola in Turkey and then tell me your thoughts.

I think there will be some friendlys before that.

Nah like other posters said Gasol is untouchable. However I think Hasheem Thabeet might be available for the right price.

I've been wanting marc as a rocket for a long time, before marc was even drafted. The only way the rockets can pull this miracle would be for Gasol to go down with an injury for 2 months and miss all december and january. In marc's absence, thabeet would have to take his game to another level. Marc would have to show frustration, spanish papers would have to leak a "source" that told them, Marc will walk away from his contract if not traded.

The grizzled would have no choice but to trade him to us for the knicks 2012 pick, our 2013 pick, an expiring contract, and one of morey's blue blazers. We might have to take in a bad contract from them but who cares..it's marc gasol!

I'm sure Hasheem Thabeet can be had. Trade them some trash and I'm sure they'll bite.
