I went by T Mobile today and was told it would cost me $360 because of my contract status. I would have bought it around $250, so for now I will stick with my buggy, unlocked, jailbroken 3G iPhone 4.0 that was given to me by my bro in law.
Gotta be kidding me. http://www.tmonews.com/2010/07/samsung-vibrant-experiencing-reception-issues-similar-to-iphone-4/ <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8PwnBhCIy0s&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8PwnBhCIy0s&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
i can replicate that issue... fml if you hold the phone in your left hand, where your palm covers the bottom left corner of the phone, the bars go all the way down. but i watched some youtube videos with full bars and no bars and didn't notice any difference in performance. all the videos loaded up pretty quickly in both instances.
Holy crap. I'm kind of glad I'm waiting for reviews on these phones before jumping on one. Maybe I should just buy a crappy free one that I dunno... just makes a phonecall?
interesting... i had 4 bars and then held the phone with my left hand. it went down to zero bars. i made two phone calls, each lasting about 5 minutes. sound quality was fine on my end, and the people i talked to said i sounded normal as well.
So do you guys ever try to bargain with the reps to try to lower the price for a new phone? Does it ever work? My mom is suggesting I do that............and who knows, with this antennae "issue" boiling up, maybe I might have some leverage? lmao
Update from tmonews.com Update: After speaking with a number of Vibrant owners, none of whom can replicate this issue we’re chalking this up either to gripping the handset so tightly its smothering or simply a fluke. Enjoy your phone and don’t worry about the iPhone 4 drama.
"Death grip" stuff - http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/samsung-captivatevibrant-caught-in-grip-of-death/
Why would anyone grip their phone hard? I mean, I always hold mine not too tight, but tight enough so it won't slip if I trip on a curb or something.

(Updated) Woah, T-Mobile Has A Website Ready For An HSPA+ Phone? http://www.tmonews.com/2010/07/woah-t-mobile-has-a-website-ready-for-hspa-phone/ UPDATE: We’ve just been sent the following image below from one of our sources. Check below for more teasing regarding this upcoming phone! Update 2: Thanks to one of our Twitter followers, it was the folks over at PhoneScoop where our source first noticed this link! Not sure how we didn’t catch this earlier but hey we’re catching it now! Update 3: The most important is of course the one you may already know if you have looked at the comment section. The source code for this website indicates the “Vanguard” is indeed the device that will become the first HSPA+ T-Mobile phone. The Vanguard is also known as the Vision/G1/Blaze/Unicorn. We’re not really sure what to make of this, but one of our eagle eyed forum members found a link to an existing T-Mobile site offering signups for notifications regarding their upcoming HSPA+ device. Unfortunately we don’t know where the link originated from or who to credit for the find but in this case, we’re just happy someone found it and that we can pass it on to you. Of course, no device is actually posted, instead just a placeholder for a future device. I suppose we can read into this a little and say that it looks as though the phone will be something large, without keyboard, possibly an EVO or Droid X competitor judging by the fake image. However, we’re just guessing here and its very likely it could be anything…but with this site, rumors are going to run rampant anyway so why not contribute to the fun! Come on HSPA+ phones!
If this is the rumored dual-core, HTC Emerald, qwerty slide out, front facing camera beauty that I dream of, then job well done T-Mobile. Job well done. I haven't found any successor to my original G1 yet that I thought was worth it. Hopefully this will be.
http://www.phonedog.com/2010/08/13/rumor-g1-blaze-is-now-t-mobile-g2-mytouch-hd-is-project-emerald/ Pretty sexy phones coming out soon, can't wait. I'm just bummed that keyboard one doesn't have front facing camera.
I've heard there not gonna have dual-core cpu's anymore. Damn T-Mobile why can you never do anything to stay ahead!?
