Any team that planned to offer Luis a contract is probably a bit surprised that the Rockets didn't wait and match. Sorry boys, you snooze you loose.

Shamsports puts our salary at 61,743, 313 but it still has Scola at 4.1 m and Lowry at 2.7m.

If you adjust for thier new salarys, +3.3m for Lowry and +4.9m for Scola, thats an extra 8.2m, which makes total salary 69.9 m, which is below the tax line.

Very good deal. For those who are skeptical of the numbers...

    1. This deal is for 5 years, which means the starting salary is quite low, and much of the money is backloaded. The MLE 5 years is $34 mil. So basically, Scola's getting paid $2.5 mil over MLE per year. Just look at the MLE players this year.
    2. As has been said, Scola did not play 82 games grueling schedules in Europe, so he has very little mileage.
    3. In today's age where many European players are weary of how they're treated in the NBA, Morey has made himself look very generous. Good for PR.

Any guy who can score 44 in a game deserves that coin.

Scola's going to be good for a long time, now that he has more freedom since Landry is gone.

Props to Les and Daryl and the Rockets for bringing Scola back like they said they would and giving him a good deal. The amount seems fair (i.e. market value), but it's one year too long in my opinion given Luis's age. I hope the last year is a team option as well.

LOL - you just knew that would happen....and I am sure they could jettison some players to get under if they had to...like Jeffries at the Trade deadline for a trade exception....

Still good business is good business.

Nice. I'm surprised they didn't wait to match a contract, but it's nice for Scola. Maybe Morey got the sense that this current market would've paid him more anyway?

At the high end of 8-10M but it's like a makeup foul. The Rox underpaid him for 3 years, now they overpay him for a few. I wonder if there is a team option in year 4.
