http://thehasbeenssports.com/2010/07/15/midsummer-western-conference-rankings/ What does everyone think? Legitimate at the #5 spot?
there's no reason why denver is ranked ahead of the rockets. No Kmart and no birdman to start the season with, and another year old for Billups.
Yeah I rmb back then we had Tracy and Anderson and bunch of other guys and we won back to back championships in August.
We are fortunate to be ranked #5 at this point of the season! I expect much better when we start playing.
Legitimate shot at the WCF and the number 2 seed. We can beat New Orleans, SA, Portland, OKC, Phoe, Denver easily in the playoffs. Utah and Dallas we could beat but it is 50/50. Lakers are rough, we probably cant dethrone them without major luck.
5th in the west gets us a matchup with #4, Denver by this perspective. hey, we may actually be second round fodder! thing are looking up
What about Billups last year gave you any reason to believe just because he is a year older he still isn't a great player?
Agree. The Rockets are a serious threat to contend in the West. They could always be ranked ahead of Denver, but I like the 5 slot. It suits us for now. Let the season start, then we will see just how good the Rockets really are...
Y'all think the Thunder warrant the number 3 spot? Team is young and loaded. And Portland is incredibly underachieving. Until they do something, number 7 sounds about right.
Durant, Westbrook, Green, Ibaka, Harden, Maynor, Sefolasha, Aldrich...outside of Sefolasha(26), none of them are over 25. Their youth makes them dangerous; of course, it could also be a downfall as well. But I think playing the Lakers in the first round this year and taking them to 6 games really made this team believe it can contend and contend right now.
Absolutely agree 100%. No more dumbing down my feelings because of "ifs". Yao IS healthy and the young players are looking better. And the one player that I think will be Houston's MIP, Chase, will come into his own this year. This guy looked great on the floor leading the charge yesterday. The only team that seems better is the Lakers (can't deny Kobe), but nobody else scares me. I think we're going to find out that we match up well with everybody and our bench will be the driving force.
I don't know about major luck, dude. This team, depth wise, is awesome. The thing is, the majority of the guys on the bench are young guys. You keep developing them and there's no telling how good we can be. Houston is going to be a tough out, regardless of who we play in the playoffs. And I definitively believe we can beat the Lakers in a 7 game series.
I think we have a better overall team than Dallas(who's #2 on that list).. Starters: (25)Brooks > Kidd(37) (27)Martin = Butler(30) (25)Ariza = Marion (32) (30)Scola < Nowitzki(32) (30)Yao >> Haywood(31) Bench: (24)Lowry > Beaubois (22) (23)Taylor < Terry (33) (22)Bud >> Stevenson (29) (21)Pat > Mahinmi (23) (22)Hill = Chandler(28) Look at how talented our bench is...(which doesn't even list veterans like Battier, Hayes and Jeffries) --RB
