"Chase Budinger is no stranger to being the most athletic guy in the gym. As a top-rated basketball and volleyball prospect in high school, Budinger was loathed by opponents (including your narrator) for being graced with otherworldly athletic ability. The way he could run the floor and soar through the air effortlessly seemed downright unfair, especially from a ground-level perspective. "

They talk about Chase's aggressiveness but I thought Chase did really well last season given his role. I don't think I ever saw Chase hesitate on a shot and that was one of the things that really impressed me about him, especially for a rookie. I hope his role increases this season. I feel like he can come off the bench with Jordan, Shane, and Kyle they could be the best second squad in the NBA.

He can do more though, he needs to attack more often.....he has all the abilities, does he have the will to try to impose that on others?

Is he Robert Horry, or Charles Barkley?

You didn't watch enough, there were definitely times he hesitated.

Please stop overhyping him. He isn't either of those players. He can be similar to Brent Barry (this is very high praise, IMO). He won't be an allstar, but at some point he'll be a very good pro.

he falls in the shadows at time. He did it routinely at Arizona and you could see it last year as well, albeit it is more understandable since he was a rookie and may have been hesitant to do too much. In the last ncaa tourney he was in he really took the lead...that's what he needs to continue to do.

Still, he has to realize how good he is and not be afraid to make something happen by pressing the issue more.

    Please stop misinterpeting my point.

    Let me be more blunt.

Is he satisfied being a role player or does he want to be more?

Is he VSpan v2.0? ;) I tend to agree with the Brent Barry comparison. A pretty good role player but definitely no superstar.

I don't know if it is a matter of being satisfied. Some people don't have the mentality to be more than what they are (like what Kobe has). I think the Brent Barry comparison is a very good one. Chase will be the kind of player where he will wow you one night with 20+ points hitting everything and the next night go 0 for 5 with 4 turnovers. I think he can be an exceptional role player who will defer often, but don't expect much more as he was never more during his time at Arizona.

You are right, I guess I figured folks would be able to get the context.

I should know better by now.

Aha, exactly what I was talking about VSpan....the context that I was trying to convey about him is completely lost on so many people.

All I ever said was we should be playing him in the backup PG role to find out if he would be part of the future, because Rafer sucked so bad.

Somehow that got tranformed into some major....man crush.....

What I do find funny though is that a lot of the people that bashed me for Vspan are Lowry lovers, and they are both similar players, not good shooters, who push the ball and attack the basket and play good defense.

Strange how that happens, isn't it?

Nice. He's proof that some white men can jump! I would be more than happy if he could be as good as Brent Barry in his prime for us.

It's hilarious to me how so many posters on the Garm are soothsayers  How could you possibly know how good he's gonna be?? It's obvious he's extremly talented ,If he has the drive and determination the skies the limit when you have his type of talent.

Well stated. Seems like Chase cruises through the games like is too easy sometimes for him. He needs to take to the next level and be more assertive at both ends of the court. I am sure he will get it going this year.
