As Rookie34 said http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=22m6cvn so its basically Paul + West and Exception For Hill + Andersen+ Battier + Jeffries + Brooks + 2 N.Y picks Why New Orleans Does It Ok. now obviously brooks and hill aren't upgrades, but its something to start over with. And with 2 expiring contracts in battier and jeffries, and well andersen as a filler. Now, the crucial part of this trade are those two picks. With this trade, those picks will just keep soaring up to at least top 10 picks, since the big 3 scenario for the knicks would be ruined. i mean what better way to start a franchise again than by having to young good point guards in brooks and collison (the reason i dont see collison starting is because of turnovers), having a guard with a lot of potential in marcus thorton, having about 30 million in expiring the upcoming year (stojakovic, battier, and jeffries) and 2 huge crucial picks with the N.y picks. The reason this is so important to the Rockets is because if the trade doesnt go down and cp3 does walk, then its likely melo will too. which would drop the value of the picks into the 20's and we really dont want that. plus it would give us a line up starting like this. paul/ martin/ ariza/budinger west/hayes yao Now there are some salary question i have to ask you experts. Do we have enough to match lowry or get scola (whichever is perfered), and sign brad miller to a vet min.? and if we do have some money left, can we sign rudy fernandez? i mean that would make our lineup like this. Pg: paul/(lowry) Sg: martin/fernandez Sf: ariza/budinger Pf: west/(scola) C: yao/miller discuss?
Will not happen suddenly. Hornets are going to have to start losing games for this to happen, it will be hard for them deal CP3 and they will/should only if they feel they need to.
theyre not getting any better, so why not restart the franchise. they f'd up as soon as they got okafor.
Making a thread with the trade proposal I made? Niiiice ... Thanks, dude ... I appreciate this!
I agree, but they are in no rush to trade him. If he's traded it will be around the deadline I bet...and they will have to be pretty much out of it. Teams are reluctant to trade their franchise guy still. Look at all the rumored trades at the deadline for Iggy, Granger, Bosh. None of them happened Usually they trade them around their contract year it seems like, when they realize they at least want something for the player. I think Granger can be had though...but still I bet they wait around the deadline.
Bower is out as Hornets GM (http://www.nba.com/hornets/news/hornets_bower_part_ways_2010_07_13.html), so the Hornets current philosophy on keeping vs. trading Paul is unknown...but they'll likely look to keep him for the short term. I could see them keeping Paul and West, and looking to trade for a player like Melo. Peja and Songaila are both expiring deals that total about $20M. But for the current proposal, they can match Scola and Lowry for whatever amount as they are restricted FAs, and this won't necessarily affect the MLE money. In addition, I'm not certain Brad Miller would sign for the vet's minimum, as there is some competition for his services. Rudy is under contract with Portland, so a trade would need to happen to acquire him. He should be on the block, especially with them signing Wesley Matthews to a fat offer sheet. I'd love to see something like that happen as a Rockets fan, but I don't see it.
I've forgot to mention a few things, since my 'trade proposal' isn't entirely the same as the one you've proposed in this thread: Let Scola walk and match Cavs's offer for Lowry. Sign Brad Miller. PG: Paul/Lowry SG: Martin/Taylor SF: Ariza/Budinger/Harris PF: West/Patterson/Johnson C: Yao/Miller/Hayes Getting Fernandez in the mix would be nice, but too difficult IMO ...
Has there ever been a big trade like this in the same division? If I was the GM, divisional teams would be the last option. Also seems like way to much to give up for Paul.....maybe worth it, maybe if we get him he stays on the bench with injury.
Like they said, they'll wait till the trade deadline. Too much hooplah for free agency now and waiting till February will allow them to be the center of all the offers. If it happens, which means a Collison eruption and a Paul injury would most likely need to occur.
They will not trade paul in the same division and i can say that with confidence. Its the same reason why indy had a better offer for tracy and he was traded to houston. You don' worry about jefferson or a guy like that being traded in the division, but young elite players are totally different.
What is Paul's free agency status next summer? There has been talk that he wants to play in NY in 2011/2012 with Amare and Carmelo.
I think there is no way New Orleans deals him without the acquiring team taking on Emeka Okafor's contract.
I would give up anyone on our team not named Yao to acquire CP3. He is the best point guard in the league in my opinion (maybe behind Nash, but Nash is getting up there in age, and CP3 is more complete). Before you start calling me an idiot, watch that playoff run he had when they lost in the tough series against the spurs. He doesn't have much talent around him, but he is an all around great player. I love Aaron Brooks, but Aaron Brooks will never be as good as a defender as CP3, and will never have his strength. I would definitely give up Brooks, Ariza, 2 NY picks, and take on Okafor's contract to acquire CP3.
Well Al JEfferson got traded in the same divison to the jazz..... KHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris paul won me over. When one team his team was down by 36 ad he was still trying to comeback and hype up his team, when everyone had dejected looks on their faces.
They have Darren Collison. Why would they want Aaron Brooks so bad? Collison had some great games as a rookie including a 20assist game and an 18assist game. The whole reason they would trade away CP3 would be to let DC take over the starting roleI would think
Would probably end up being some kind of three-way in that situation. Brooks is cheap and proven, so he's our best trade chip.
