Say what you want about him, but every sports fan wishes he owned their favorite teams. Rest in peace, Mr. Steinbrenner.
Wow. I was just thinking about this the other day, about how you don't see him as much at games and as active in team affairs since he gave control to his son (sons?). A tyrant and a owner ridiculously dedicated to winning. RIP.
Wow...unexpected. I guess it shouldn't be. He was 80 years old after all. It's just weird. Ever since I can first remember watching baseball, he's been involved. I hated the guy, but I respected him. RIP George.
There is not a fan of any team that wouldn't love him as an owner...well, at least in a league with no salary cap. Basically handing out blank checks to ensure success. RIP
He was every city's hope in an sports franchise owner. I also really liked the character he played on Seinfeld.
True... I didn't pick up on this until Curb came out. But you can very clearly tell that its Larry David's voice. Good stuff from LD.
Big Stein! a crucial part of the Tyson Chicken trade... for the record, he did make a cameo appearance on an episode of Seinfeld, entitled "The Invitations," but the scene was cut and is avilable on Season 7 DVD extras
it's fine not to like the guy but to not respect him is just being a hater. 11 pennants, 7 world championships. RIP
