The Boss has gone to the giant stadium in the sky. The hitting coach for Peter's Gatekeepers better watch his back, the Boss don't play games.

    :(

You were a merciless tyrant and a beloved grandfather figure. Baseball will never see another like you, for better or for worse. The Yankees are the better for having been owned by you.

Never before has a man been so dedicated to winning. Thank you Boss.

This is the first sports passing that has really impacted me.

The words of the Boss will echo throughout Yankee history.

RIP. I've never been a fan of the Yankees but Steinbrenner was still a force in MLB.

    RIP

Just 2 days after Bob Sheppard, the longtime stadium announcer, passed away as well.

There isn't an arm band big enough to honor these two passings. :(

If you ever questioned whether he had a heart you should have seen him break down into tears when he was at the stadium a few years ago and Yankee Stadium came to life with an impromptu "THANK YOU BOSS! THANK YOU BOSS!" that lasted for quite some time.

There is no question that George Steinbrenner had a lot of blemishes on him as an owner, but never before has a sports owner been so dedicated to delivering championships to his fans. This is a man that routinely lost millions of dollars a year in efforts to make the team good despite profit.
