Sure appreciate if someone can recommend a dependable, decent digital camera that's really waterproof and take some quality normal and underwater pics. I'm thinking about the Olympus Stylus Tough model but read some mixed reviews about it, and i'm trying to stay under 200 bucks.
Go to walmart.com - search for "waterproof camera" in their electronics department. A friend of mine found his this way. I don't know what he bought exactly.

if you like canon products i know they make waterproof cases for specific models. i also know they are expensive around $100-300 if i remember but im assuming they fit and work great.
I have an olympus waterproof camera that I bought 2 years ago and its still going strong and still waterproof.
I've got an Olympus Stylus Tough-6000 Its worked great. Took it on a cruise, and went snorkling with it. Takes pretty good pics under water.
I have an Olympus that I just opened this past 4th of July...it was in the box for almost two years as I bought it AFTER i went to Hawaii...yeah I know... but it was around $300 and it's pretty amazing...it says its waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof...it's an 8 megapixel camera and it came with a floaty wrist thing, regular camera case and cables/cords...

Battery life to me is good. I think I've only had to go charge it once when I needed it, and that was on our cruise, after we had taken it snorkling. We used it that day for a long time, pretty much non-stop while we were snorkling taking pics and vids. There is a lag after you snap a photo, but it depends on what setting the camera is in. For example, the night settings will have longer flashes with more lag. But then there is a setting where you can take quick snaps, so it would probably do fine.

I bought the same one and first time in water got water in lcd and never worked again. I had the locked closed and water got in.
