Rick Adelman loves him. Rick Adelman has a much better eye for talent than anyone on here, especially some of our more hilarious posters...
The only one taking things out of context is YOU, my friend. Our previous conversation was about your past obsessions: Langhi, VSpan, Von, Budinger. I pointed out how you once thought we would regret losing Von because he is not easily replaced.. and a year later we basically have two guys who can replace him. Then you went off into this tangent about how you only wanted to sign Von back then for $3M so CLEARLY you didn't think he was that good and just a back-end rotation player. So I linked you to a thread with some of your comments from BACK THEN. Apparently your recollection of your own thoughts of yesteryear have faded with the emergence of Budinger and you're a bit fuzzy on it, so I was just trying to give you the correct context. The context of our discussion has never changed -- the only one attempting to change the 'context' is you, brotha. And this is officially the last time I hope to ever write the word "context" in a post on this BBS.. good grief.
he played a poor game tonight obviously. but he did make some nice passes in the process. hill didn't convert off a few of those, while chase did. i don't agree with you regarding his lack of court vision. even during last year's SL he was able to find teammates for some easy buckets. same during the regular season. imo, he has the court vision and passing skills. it's more his scoring mentality that's getting in the way. in any case, i really doubt he is going to be out of the league anytime soon.
He was the 32nd player selected and has one more guaranteed year, I think if he doesn't learn the team game quickly he may hang on a year or two but I doubt his career ever gets started. He wants to play like DWade and he is just not good enough to do that, IMO. I don't see the court vision you do, I see a guy that notices someone if they are in his direct line of vision, but I would happily be wrong. DD
you doubted he would even get out of the d-league last year. and it seems he already played well within the team concept at the end of this past season. he certainly wasn't jacking up shots like he's been doing this SL.
This is true, and I admitted he made a good amount of progress. Maybe he will get in the rotation he has the ability, can he get the NBA game. We shall see...but I would LOVE to be wrong about him.....believe me.... DD
Oh, come on. You might not like hearing this, but you haven't been here long enough to post crap like that about him or anyone else, and I'm referring to the "site." With all due respect.
JT had a decent game. The turnovers obviously meant he made tons of bad decisions, but I'm more impressed by the fact that he is getting rebounds. That itself already shows determination and effort on the court.
DD's opinionated. So what? As for the 'DD' at the bottom of his posts, I think you're reading way, way too much into that. I think that's just personal style.
JT is the lone non-team player on our team. I can understand how that might be useful to have in situations (think JR Smith) but is he effective enough to warrant minutes?
If JT wants to stick around the league and get minutes near term, he is going to have to go about it being a defensive minded player. Players with his kind of size and offensive game are a dime a dozen in the NBA. He does not have exceptional handles, speed, vision, or shooting ability.
I've watched all the games so far and the next good pass JT makes will be his first. He has no vision and no desire to pass the ball, that only translates into a role player and nothing more. When he's hot he may get a few minutes and when he's not he will not get off the bench.
This is where I'm at basically. I think he's good enough to be the backup SG, but wouldn't mind a little competition.
I rather have Von Wafer than Jermaine Taylor. Both are single-minded low IQ with no desire to play any different than boghogging and forcing shot trying to impress by scoring as much as possible. That's not how you can become a good player. At least Von Wafer was accurate and made shots consistently...that is why he was accepted in the team.
I agree. While he would be a serviceable backup, it wouldn't hurt if someone else stepped up and made him push himself a little bit more. He desperately needs to improve his passing and limiting the turnovers.
