Well, I think Wall-E is around here somewhere on DVD, maybe I'll give it a shot At least it has Robots. I like robots.* *Not the animated film "Robots" starring Robin Williams - I didn't like that
Hey Swoly, going tonight with my son, my girlfriend and her daughter, but do you NEED the 3D to fully enjoy the credits? I read this might be the case. It looks like, from all the reviews, that the 3D is done really well in this movie. Also, Best Buy has an app that supposed to translate what the minions are saying as the movie plays.
mogrod, YES. Keep those 3D glasses on even after the first few credits come out. There are nice surprises. The 3D is well done here. I know you've seen the trailer... when they go to the carnival... well, there are awesome 3D effects there, too. It's called "MOVIE MODE" and it will translate the end credits. They specifically ask you to place your phone on vibrate just before the movie starts, and it dimmed my iPhone's screen light and had a red band saying "movie mode" on the top (where the signal meter is). THEN they tell you to "put your phone down." It didn't work with mine... maybe 'cuz I didn't know about this, but if I would've known, I would have charged my phone fully. FAIL. Just for this, I will go see it again with my girls this weekend... and turn on my app again. http://www.drawnthatway.com/2010/06/07/best-buy-movie-mode-app-translates-minion-speak/ Something else I forgot to mention... it was a free screening by Mix 96.5 . There were delays in starting the movie because, according to the 96.5 peeps, the movie hadn't downloaded yet. They said it was still getting there (that's what she said) and it was still not completely digitally transferred. I thought it was funny... Mrs. SwoLy asked: "Duh. Why couldn't they have done that BEFORE we got here?"
Please don't see the first two to make up your mind on animated movies..they sucked...and ratatouille... Toy Story trilogy, Nemo, The Incredibles, Antz, hell, even Monsters vs. Aliens was decent... I didn't want to see this movie, but my kids do so i'll probably check it out this weekend...
Uptown Girls National Lampoon's: Pledge This! Jonah Hex National Treasure: Book of Secrets Mamma Mia!
Don't get mad, it's a children's movie thread on the internet I'm honestly having difficulty remembering what I've even seen in the past 5 years, and what I would consider to be my favorite I'll try I guess Dark Knight The Departed Idiocracy Pineapple Express Casino Royale Nothing to write home about there...I never claimed to have excellent taste in movies, just that I don't go for the kiddie stuff.
Ok. Thanks for that, sir. I guess you have nothing else to do in this thread... other than to ask questions about this particular movie. Please do go see it, though. I don't recommend movies much, but this one I believe has everything for a good family outing. Getting back to the subject at hand, according to RottenTomatoes.com (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/121..._consensus_despicable_me_is_certified_fresh/), Despicable Me is at 80% Fresh and Predators is at 66% Fresh
Saw this today, enjoyed it. Even more important, my two young sons loved it. Fwiw, my 5-yr. son, without the emotional investment in Pixar that most parents have now, thoroughly enjoyed this movie FAR more than Toy Story 3.
My 4-year-old liked it far better than Toy Story 3. My wife said he didn't stop laughing for more than a minute.
I typically enjoy animated movies... This one wasn't very good. Hardly funny... mostly slapstick. There wasn't much thought put into the humor compared to movies like Shrek. The story was decent. 5/10
