Yes, true, I think he can contribute on the NBA floor off the ball, but he needs to get an offensive low post game, and he won't get much of that in Houston this year with Yao back. I like the guy, but I think Pat Pat is a bit better overall player right now. DD
Cool. Rio Grande is a pretty good spot. That is a given. Whereas Jordan did not met expectations right now PPatt hit the rookie wall significantly in points production and rebounding. He's settling for jumpers which is not his strength. Didn't see him post up that well consistently. Both needs to work. Yes I don't only see the positives about him I won't send either of them to D-league until 20 games to 25 games into the R season depends on how they rebound I think and play D IMO whom will be send earlier
Yao won't play 35 minutes, at least not for quite some time. Note it! so we still need length in the front court. Hill as raw as his talents are is much longer than Patrick. I won't dismiss that easily.
I think we desperatly need a backup center and if we are relying on Hill we are going to be in trouble, because he is getting pushed around by fringe players right now. DD
Good topic. IMO, one of these guys will be chosen to get the majority of minutes as the primary back-up to both Scola & Yao. It will be a good battle throughout Summer League, Training Camp, and Pre-Season! If I had to choose right now, I'd go with Hill. Just because he has more experience and appears to be the better shot blocker (granted the only Patterson exposure I've seen was his two summer league games so far). Either way, the guy that wins will be asked to only do the following: 1. Block Shots 2. Rebound 3. Finish when around the basket The player that excels in these three areas the best will win the battle.
Obviously you try to hang onto both of them and cross your fingers for Jordan Hill's ability to put in work @ the 5
I know. We will have to wait. I think Scola and Lowry are priorities. then we will turn to Miller and I think one year is enough because of uncertainties of the near future. I think till the end of next months we will watch if we can sign a free agent or not. After that we will seek a trade. I don't want to see either Budinger or Hill go until the trade deadline. Perhaps we can work things out without them being involved. Depends on the situation as you said with Yao Ming.
We will have to move Hill, PP, or Scola at some point. I would not like to see either Hill or PP limited to 15 minutes, two years from now.
With Yao's injury history, I don't see Hill limited to 15 min per game in 2 years. I'll be more shocked if Yao plays 82 games a season.
Patterson's gonna be a baller. Hill might become decent one day but I see Patterson becoming similar to what Landry was for us. With further range...
neither one has an edge of the other. the one that is going to have the bigger impact is the one that is going to bring more energy. Patterson
People need to seriously chill when it comes to Jordan Hill. Offensively he's just developing a new facet to his game(low post game), so him struggling on offense should be expected. On the defense all he needs is to do is put on some muscle, I mean give the guy a break. He just found out he was going to play center like two weeks ago when we drafted Patterson (he just needs some time to put on some muscle and develop). --RB
Patterson is more polished and has better bball IQ. Hill has looked lost out there. Yes, I know we've only played 2 summer-league games. The difference is obvious. I agree with DD - Hill could use some time in D-league. He has the body and the athleticism. He just needs practice and self-confidence.
