I wish Budinger would find his jumper, otherwise he played a good all around game. Good to see him do a better job of rebounding, an area he could definitely improve on. Taylor is showing he has taken is game up a notch, should be considered as our designated score coming off the bench.

He's not going to be staring over Martin so it's between him and Ariza to start at the other wing spot.

Can you see Ariza accepting coming off the bench without getting disgruntled and throwing fits?

Unless there is an injury or trade before the season, I think Battier will probably even offer to come off the bench if for no other reason, to prevent Ariza from whining and throwing tantrums.

Chase plays like a seasoned vet next to these guys. I like to see wing players make a positive impact on the game even when their shot isn't falling. Budinger does that because runs hard in transition, he rebounds well, and plays within himself on offense.

Lowry, Taylor, Budinger, Patterson, Hill would be a high flying 2nd unit.

Lowry may even be able to motivate Hill and get him to put forth consistent effort, i.e., light a fire under his ass.

Didn't want to say it but there is that too. Ariza wouldn't be happy about it and it would/could hurt his confidence at this point in his career to go back to the bench. Shane doesn't seem like he'd mind it at all.

that's what i was looking for. I couldnt recall if he was benched temporarily or was still on the bench leading into his injury....but now my question is, was there a reason given for the benching? I believe it was around the time we lost a shot at the playoffs, so is it possible he was benched because of that?

It was a night to remember. Martin kept the defense honest, while Battier was on the bench. The spacing in that game had been better than the whole season up to that point. Scola scored 44 pts on 20-25 FG on the Nets! A poster started a comic book style thread in Scola's honor. After that game, Battier kept riding pine.

I think it had more to do with Martin joining the team and moving into the starting lineup and he, Ariza and Battier all being healthy and available at the same time for the first time.

It's a minutes game and IIRC, Battier unselfishly went to Coach A and offered to come of the bench. He's team-first while Ariza is tantrum-first.

Battier and Ariza were struggling terribly together. Shane was still on the bench leading to his injury, because Adelman felt that Ariza and Martin would play well together. Ariza started to improve offensively and felt under less pressure after Kevin joined us. I feel the starting 3 spot will be determined by how Ariza adjusts to playing with Yao. If he struggles,Shane will start IMO.

 at those comics. I never saw those somehow. Excellent work. Who was the artist?

That reminded me of the triple 30 game where Martin/Brooks/Scola all scored 30+.

The whole "compared to Chuck Hayes" thing... we figured Hill would be less adept at defending the C position. His offensive game was supposed to be a lift. Because you could "finally" have a center that can put the ball through the rim unlike Chuck or Mutombo (or Jeffries). Hill can finish with dunks while holding his man adequately.

Hill isnt displaying the OFFENSIVE part of the game either. And is frustratingly lagging on court awareness and urgency. He's looking more Hilton Armstrong-like than a rotation player if I had to be honest. Which is odd considering Hill DID play at the center position in REAL NBA games last year, and did alright just off moving around.

Looking at Hill's Arms & Shoulders it suggests that he has done little strength work with the weights during the off season. :p

True, but it was NEW YORK's pick haha If it was DM's pick, then we would have an All Star.
