I don't know, I think Hakeem has been getting his props lately since he walked away from basketball.

Maybe because it's the lack of good big men, that we have to constantly go to the past, as in ten/fifteen years ago to see really good big men.

In 2004, 10 years after that first championship. He was a rookie in '93-'94. Thorpe made the all-star team in 1992 so he was only 2 years removed from that appearance when we got our first championship.

He's not disrespecting you, it's ok.

There's no disrespect there anyway. He's pointing out the important of having star help, the fact that dream needed clyde the second time shows he's more right than wrong. I'm pretty sure Wade doesnt just want one more ring. He wants multiples ones and THAT is definitely hard to do without the extra help.

If anything he's been getting more props after he retired. I rarely see anyone bad-mouth Hakeem. Even the "Jordan was retired" talks have died down.

Otis know dream, he was in his era. Thing is, dream is out of sight, out of mind. If he was here still involved, he would stay fresh on people minds. I wouldnt be so sensitive.

Odd oversight for Wilbon to make.

He gets respect, but is still sometimes left out of certain peoples "lists". But the fact that he doesn't get the respect the he so wholly deserves isione of the infinite reasons we will always love Dream.

    We were "true" witnesses....

I think it also has to do with the fact Dream never really cared about the media attention, or like Shaq cared about self proclaiming he was number 1 all the time. Like someone already stated, Dream was more like Yao, humble, respective, and deeply appreciative of his abilities.

I can't remember the Jordan clip, and I can't find it anymore...But Jordan even said that Dream was without a doubt the Best Center he played, and that Dream's complete destruction of David Robinson, and that whole years playoff run, was the best personal run through the playoffs Jordan had witnessed.

yes i know that, but he still was an all star in his career.

we all know that the Rockets heroes were not just one person, even though that one person was the MVP, DPOY, and Finals MVP.

the chemistry was beautiful and the team had supreme confidence in each other.

    Think about it.

Who's gonna take the last shot if Dream has to pass it out?

    Horry?
    Cassell?
    Kenny?
    Maxwell?
    Mario?

ALL OF THEM CAN HIT THE GAME WINNING SHOT.

That's Clutch City and that's why it should always be respected.

No respect before the first championship, none after the 1st or the 2nd....Even during offseason after the first title, the Houston Rockets had no buzz or a little chance to repeat according to ESPN, SI, Etc. NO LOVE!!! Just more Rocket fuel to the fire.

Guy could literally do it all. I bet Bill Worrel shouted out "BLOCKED BY OLAJUWON!!!" at least once in his sleep during those years.

I was going to college in Montana in the early 90's. I recall the Rockets being on TV quite a bit.

barkely won 0.... the point of this thread is that the person is saying that barekly is being regarded as a better player then dream .. dream at that point had won 2 rings and had just come off beating barekly's team

Spread the word people, it's that simple. Especially people that live in other parts of the country. I'm always telling kids around here about Hakeem, then they go look him up and get educated.

It helps if you can do a dream shake or two on them....

If hakeem in his prime played right now he would school every center in this league. Such an extremely rare player...we were all so fortunate to watch a player of his caliber...can't say enough about the guy.

    Michael Wilbon wrote the article.
He's just pumping up his buddy Barkley more than lowering Hakeem, I'd hope. Cuz of his Chicago roots, Wilbon will either acknowledge Hakeem and Rockets as the Bulls biggest threat, or he'll be pro-Jordan until the day he dies

He forgot to mention they were past their primes, as well.
