does anybody know how many times can a restricted free agent sign offer sheets in the case that orlando matches it? In other words, if magic match the offer, can he still receive an even higher one by another team? Thanks
Outside of the Rockets, I don't watch a ton of NBA...but I will be paying plenty of attention to the Bulls with Thibs, especially against the Heat. I hope they meet in the playoffs and Miami gets owned by that defense.
yEa redick was scoped more than anyone I remember, everyone said he just couldn't do it. The guy literally sat on the bench and worked his ass off to get playing time and made the best of every 2nd of it, great resilience and I am happy to see it pay off. He could really spread the court well for Rose and Boozer. If magic match, that'll be double the pay for him because of luxury tax
I don't know, I feel like they need more depth in their lineup. More beef inside and an athletic wing. Kurt Thomas and Josh Howard perhaps?
He is signing for an annual salary greater than Miller is going to get with the Heat. Maybe Miller ought to keep looking around before making a 5 year commitment to the Heat for 25M, a guy that can shoot 48% from 3 has to be worth as much as Trevor Ariza.
Outside shooting was the biggest knock on the Chicago last year. Glad to see they are addressing it this offseason. If Orlando doesn't match they'll have a pretty good team on paper.
That Bulls team should be potent. Redick fits extremely well since Rose will have the ball in his hands most of the time and will be best complemented by the spot-up shooting SG types. If they had enough money of course, Ray Allen or Richard Hamilton would have been the best options, but as it is this team stands to have a lot more chemistry than the one in Miami. And depth, not to mention. I could conceivably see Chicago with a better regular season record than Miami, but it would probably take one injury to make it happen.
JJ Redick is overrated. Von Wafer is wayyyyyy better and he could be had for the minimum. Seriously...JJ Redick was a 4 year collegian and it took him ANOTHER 4 years to put up respectable numbers......and now hes the new hot fuzz????? Not bashing him, but 20 million for him to just provide outside shooting is better spent buying a 20s draft pick and get a Jermaine Taylor or too
Yes, except Hinrich is stronger, way more athletic, plays great defense and plays a different position. Seriously, the only thing they have in common is that they're both 6'4" and white. Redick's underrated by some and plays better D than many give him credit for, but he's probably getting paid too much. I think the Bulls overpaid to prevent Orlando from matching, I don't think anyone else was going to pay him that much.
Miller is older than both of them, thats why he's not going to get a better offer...not to mention he's got bad wheels.
*for a white guy, you mean? Because if a black college senior was picked in the lottery and came off his 4th season averaging 9.6 ppg and 2 rpg with a career 42 FG percentage, we'd be laughing at this contract. I'm laughing regardless. He's an undersized spot up shooter and nothing more.
Korver AND Redick? Redick doesnt stain your team but he isnt the kind of player that you'd want to have similar redundant types of on the roster, especially at that price. Woulda made sense to go after Wesley Matthews instead of spot-up sharpshooter X 2.
Yeah...that's a little much for a three point shooter. Bad contracts flying around left and right....but at least this deal is manageable. And he will play hard, which is more than I can say about most of the average players who got overpaid this summer....
undersized spot up shooter, that shows you kind of just go off of highlights and casual knowledge. I have league pass and have been watching all of redicks games, he is an underrated play maker with a strong ability to spread the court for dwight with his awareness, passing, and off ball movement. His defense is underrated and has improved vastly as van gundy demanded it from him to get playing time. He does thing's beyond stats which is why in the playoffs he had one of the best plus minuses on the team. He is a role player, and a solid compliment to the right team. But yea you probably know better, that's why chicago paid him this much and orlando is really thinking about matching. That's why van gundy called him the only one that cares about hoops on the team, and celtics coach rivers said he was the most consistent force on the magic in the playoffs. But I am sure you are onto something and see right through them and him, Ronny... Ha, sorry to take it personally, i just reread it and it sounds a bit harsh, but to clear it up, yea he is a role player, but role players are necessary and in the right team and system they compliment the star to make the star better, so I think he adds a lot more than just shooting after seeing him play and his impact on the game
You can only sign one offer sheet. When you sign an offer sheet you are agreeing to the terms of a contract and you are locked into the terms of that contract. It's just a matter of who the contract is with, Chicago or Orlando.
Magic plans to take the full 7 days to decide to match which I think is a b@@th move and it prob means they won't match.
