The Blazers gave Turkoglu that contract last year too before he turned it down and they got A. Miller instead. They do not do well in free agency.

Kinda funny, a couple of years ago, a lot of people were thinking that the Blazers were the next great team. Kind of reminds me of the current Thunder team. I wonder if they can avoid a different fate. Injuries have stopped the Blazers from fully developing as a team.

Those are my thoughts as well. Metrics, + maybe the front offices know they can intentionally toss bigger money totals at players because they know the players actually WONT get it.

    The Euroleague way.

That deal is crazy. He is the highest paid player in his draft class with the full MLE, higher than Curry, Evans, Blake Griffin.

What do you mean by the part in bold? Just trying to follow your thought...

Edit: Just hit me what you meant. I don't think the league will be in that bad a shape but still an interesting thought.

Definitely overpaid, but I'm more ashamed of people here saying they hadn't heard of him.

It's a front loaded contract for $9.2 mil on the 1st year. He makes more than Scola, Brooks and Lowry combined in his 1st year. Ridiculous!

With the way they salary-dumped him last season, do you think he'd want to go back? Plus, it's Utah.

I can't believe how many players have bolted from Utah. It'll be interesting to see how that pans out. God would I love for Deron Williams to get fed up and demand a trade.

It's crazy, the Jazz still have a decent amount of talent on their roster with Okur, Millsap, AK47, Price, Williams.

Screw Trevor Ariza, this is making Jeffries's contract look sane.

Portland is going to implode. This offer is their attempt to get Utah to stupidly match and drive then into luxury tax. Utah is not that stupid. They are going to make Portland eat this big time. Whoever took over for Pritchard needs to be fired. I don't know what happened up there but Paul Allen bit off on somebody's mess big time.

Portland is crumbling before our eyes.

whys the rash reactions to this "overpaid" contract??

in my opinion this contract is perfect value for both the player and the team signing him to the contract.

he is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, can score at a very efficient rate, shoots the 3 ball well which is vital in any offense, and also did I mention he can defend? any and every team needs someone like wesley mathews to win a championship.

just forget about the undrafted and rookie statuses and you will all be hailing this as one of the best signings of this FA season.

This is a great deal for both sides. Wish Morey had done this...

Now please sign Ronnie Brewer Morey!!!

Utah can turn any random SG into a productive player if he can shoot the ball. It's just their system.
