Yeah someone's clearly having a bad day...you came to this conclusion from a tweet which has no evidence that this even meant for the Rox?

tl;dr anything beyond the first page of this thread.

How can "I'd rather be in a place where I'm wanted" NOT refer to Kyle Lowry himself, and rather, LeBron James?

If the tweet was about LeBron, then Lowry would probably tweet "LeBron," and not "I'd" or "I'm."

I said that but I retracted it upon further reflection. Was just reaching and trying to be optimistic... tried to expand what he was saying to "[If I were LeBron,] I'd rather be in a place where I'm wanted!!!!" since he was tweeting a lot about LeBron and sees how the Cavs owner and fans have been acting since the announcement.

But yea, I agree... it's almost surely about himself.

Remember when he tweeted "Gone!!!", followed by "M"?

I'm pretty sure he was referring to LeBron leaving for Miami. This is the same deal. Its about LeBron.

That's not an offer, it's a last resort. Come on now DD.. let's not act like the Rockets made a fair offer. They offered him the minimum amount necessary to make him restricted. To call that the Rockets offer is disrespectful to what he brings to the team.. and if that IS the Rockets offer, they clearly have no intentions of keeping him beyond this one year, so why even bother have him sign it?

That said, the Rockets took out a full page ad saying how much they wanted him back. Fans flooded his twitter with messages wanting him back. The only way he's talking about not feeling wanted in Houston is because of the lack of a real offer. I'm sure he feels like he's being held hostage since all his friends have gotten their deals done across the NBA -- the Rockets need to step up to the plate on both him and Scola. This is not how you show loyalty to your players who work their @sses off for you.

The point is a lot of posters are assuming he's waiting on the rockets to make the first move, so then he can get other offers, and they reason that's why he's "upset"...but they dont understand the rockets already made the move AND lowry knows that was the expected move, so he's got no reason to be upset.

It's like a freakin dance, restricted free agency i mean...it has steps GMs follow ,if they're planning on matching. Both sides know what the steps are. Nothing the rockets do will surprise Lowry, except for them not matching a low offer. Everything else he should be ready for, that's what agents are for, to prepare and brief him. There's no doubt he'd knew he'd get alow offer for a while, i can't stress enough that's just how it works when you're restricted and your team plans to match. Morey's "tactics" are hardly only his, and are well known to agents.

    Well to spin it around....

Nobody else seems to want him since he's had zero contract offers.

So I guess the Rockets are the only team that wants him.

Every team in the league would be doing the exact same thing.

Is he waiting on the Rockets? There's this idea that if the Rockets make an offer, suddenly so many other teams will step up and outbid. So why don't they at least make a lower offer than what they consider is reasonable, much like they did with Landry? I don't think they've made ANY offer.. or at least any that has been reported (I very well could be wrong.) The Pacers and Blazers have all been linked to him -- but I haven't heard about any offers coming his way, probably because teams know the Rockets will just match them.

Why doesn't he have a reason to be upset? Does he have a choice? He wants to start.. he loves Houston, but his dream is not to be an NBA bench player. Is that a crime? I don't want a guy whose content coming off the bench. It's not like he CHOSE to become a RFA.. the Rockets have all the leverage -- he has every right to be frustrated. Teams are scared to make an offer because the Rockets will match, and yet the Rockets are not stepping up and making an offer of their own. He's been a FA for what, 11 days now? Without a reasonable offer? I think any reasonable person would be upset. You say you want me.. then make me a damn offer.

I'm not saying this is just something Morey does -- obvious a lot of teams do this. But that doesn't make it any less frustrating. What if he slips tomorrow and tears his ACL? If a team says they want me, takes out an ad in the newspaper telling fans to flood me with messages.. yeah, I'd be a little upset too if a week later I haven't received a fair offer from them.

This way of handling FAs may be smart financially.. but at some point, you have to realize you can't treat every player like a commodity all the time. They have families, dreams and lives of their own -- you continually do this and you will burn bridges. Lowry could be upset enough to take the one year tender (Rockets cannot trade him if he does, IIRC) and then they lose him in a year because they were too scared to step up and give him what he's worth.

Based on the contracts being handed out and Lowry's abilities, if he was a UFA, he'd already have at least an MLE and a starting job somewhere.

There is a huge difference between how he is being approached (or not approached) as an RFA as opposed to if he were a UFA.

I think he is awaiting an offer from the Rockets, and they Rockets want to see if another team will make a qualifying offer before deciding to match/ make their first offer. He is restricted so other teams may be reluctant to offer him anything unless they are clearly under the cap.
