I agree as well .. this post is pointless .. granted i didnt read it all but the starting sentence was i know you guys are sick and tired of lebron james .. or whatever .. and so now here is another thread dedicated to him, how does that help?
The Lakers were 6-3 without Kobe last season. They would have needed 43 wins to make the playoffs. Do you really think they wouldn't be able to go at least 37-36 without Kobe? They may not have been a 50-win team without Kobe, but people forget that there was a big drop-off between the last playoff team (50 wins) and the best non-playoff team (only 42 wins).
the lakers still were a 10th seed in the west and had a respectable record with kobe. the cavs will be straight up AWFUL. that's what i mean.
Well you guys can also not click the thread considering the thread title clearly says LeBron James in it.
Point taken. The Lakers still fell from 56-26 (4th in the league) to 34-48 (21st in the league), went from making the finals to missing the playoffs as the 11th or 12th seed (forgot who had the tie breaker). Just saying.
This is abunch of BS!!!! If lebron wouldve stayed in Cleveland, everybody would be bashing him for taking more money!!! I'm so sick people critisizing players that wanna win!! And what makes the Cavs so special that they think they deserve a Better explination for why he left!!? It's the NBA, the NBA has something called FREE AGENCY! That means if a player wants to leave he has every right to do so!!! And dond say his legacy won't be like Kobe's or MJ's!!! When MJ needed help, he got pippin, when Kobe needed help, he got gasol!! When LeBron asked for help he got mo Williams and jammison.... THAT'S CRAP!!! And does anybody remember the lakers when Kobe was by himself (like lebron has been his whole career) they were barely contending for a playoff spot!! who's to say lebron won't end up doing everything he has done in the past!! With the addition of about 8 titles!!! So don't quistion his legacy before we even see what he does in Miami!!! And PLEASE PEOPLE, get off kobe's **** and understand he's not perfect, he was nothing but a headcase for the few years after shaq left and before gasol came! He wouldve spit on Cleveland if he was in lebrond position, just like he tried to do to L.A. till he backed out like a little puss!!!!
the lakers were in the playoff hunt for most of the year though. so technically they were still a playoff contender. (you also have to remember, phil jackson also left, along with malone and payton and fisher). i'm willing to bet the cavs will be a bottom 3-4 teams in te entire league that might not get 18-20 wins. this will further prove how much lebron did for the cavs, than the other way around.
and they still had Kobe, who had just as good of a roster around him that lebron had around him... Only difference is lebron had a top 3 seed almost every year, Kobe had an 11th or 12th!!
If u get me 7 threads .. I'll never set hand in clutchfans .. I know sacrcasm is the new cool thing but please try to swing at me a bit harder next time .. * Not news but discussion threads ..
The misconceptions are far too many in your post. 1) The Cavs made the playoffs every year since his sophomore season. How the hell do you expect the GM to get a top lottery pick with that? The Thunder have gotten what 4 top 5 picks in the last 5 years? (Durant, Greent, Westbrook, and Harden) 2) LeBron had the "win now" attitude since early part of his career. That's why he gave the go ahead for giving an extension to Zydrunas even though he was pretty washed out. Same goes for the 20 million Shaq payout last season. Donyell Marshall? Ronald Murray? All these moves given the green-light by the so-called "King" 3) Again the Cavs biggest mistake was letting LeBron play GM, Coach, and God in Cleveland.
They made the playoffs and won because of Lebron. Just look at their record when Lebron sat out (compare to when Kobe sat out, for what it's worth). If that isn't good enough evidence, wait until next year to see how the rest of the team does without him. Fact is, when Kobe demanded help, the Lakers got Gasol. When Lebron demanded help, he got Jamison. That's a pretty big difference. Now of course the Gasol trade was a farce and it would never have happened for an unglamourous franchise like the Cavs, but that's actually the point: Lebron's situation would never have improved if he stayed in Cleveland because the management sucked and the destination is not attractive to free agents. So he just moved to a place where the pieces were already in place. And all the hate he is getting now will disappate when he is standing on that podium holding the trophy, which he will do time and time again from here on out.
so it's lebron's fault that he was so good immediately when he entered the L that he forced the organization to be in a "win now" mode. gosh, we wouldn't want players like that now do we? if lebron played GM, he would have gotten amare instead of jamison. that was ferry's call. and that was ferry's mistake.
No I never said that, but Lebron and his camp need to stop with the whole the "Cavs management sucked" excuse. How do you expect them to get help when Big Z has a 15 million dollar a year extension, and the Cavs have picks in the 20-30 range every year? Again just because Kobe was giftwrapped Gasol by the idiots in Memphis, doesn't mean every GM is going to live up to the same standard. Heck even Morey, our beloved genius GM has yet to pull off a blockbuster deal for an all-star type player for Yao. Still he is considered among the smartest minds in basketball management. Get Amare with what? Mo Williams and Delonte? Again it's all about the assets you have. It's good to have wishful thinking and hope you can land a premiere player but rarely does that really happen.
Well you basically just broke down why it was great for LeBron James to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers if he wanted a chance at a Championship.
Then I guess Yao should do the same next summer. Since Morey is only good at getting 2nd round draft picks and bench players and couldn't land Bosh. See this logic doesn't work cause we all know Morey is working his ass off to build a championship team. The Cavs management did the same thing, made the best with what they had. The Rockets dilemma: 4 years ago we had two superstars in their prime but we lacked roleplayers and a decent bench. Today we have the roleplayers but no healthy superstars. Does Yao use that as an excuse to boot us and leave for a better team next year?
If Yao left because he felt like he had a better chance somewhere else I won't be mad at him. But the difference between Yao and LeBron. One of the biggest reason the Rockets haven't been contenders is because Yao Ming has been hurt. That is not the case for LeBron James.
