well, the draft has come and gone. Where do we go from here? Free Agency, trades, or do we just stick with what we have and see how ar we go?

I know that our number one option right now is signing Mobley, but surely the wheeling and dealing isnt over with.

If you guys remember a while back...Rudy talked about a major deal in the works...and that he had to get something done...well have we heard the last of that?

Another issue to address....we need a PF. Brian Grant is probably the best out there...but can we get him? He turned down 41 million to stay with Portland..and all we have is that exemption.

You guys tell me what the priorities should be, numbered greatest to least.

    1- Resign Mobley

2- Rockets will keep Collier and Langhi

3- Drew, Williams, Rogers, and maybe KT will all be probably dealt to improve the PF postion.

4- Brian Grant is a good possibilty because he'll get all the palying time he wants in Houston.

5- Austin Croshere is not going to Houston or anywhere else...forget about him!

6- Rashard Lewis is still a possibilty but will probably go for teh bigger bucks (chicago).

IMO, KT may be out the door (Yes!!). Collier makes him unneeded. Collier's a better shooter, has better size, better rebounder.

I'd venture to say a deal of Walt/KT for a player in his last year could happen, similar to how the Magic used Maggette as sweetener for Strong. Or he could be thrown in with Rogers/Drew.

Collier should be the starter at PF this year. KT may be our big man off the bench.

Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong?
    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

I think KT will stay as well. Collier sure has all the potential to be a dangerous mismatch due to size and shooting skill, but as far as that making KT ependable, no. I would love to keep Rogers as well too.

Drew and Walt's better days however are likely to be somewhere else. I still think that a trade or signing of Croshere is extremely unlikely, and a sign/sign & swap for Rashard has about a 50/50 chance of going down. We have the upper hand over every other team out there as far as sentimentality goes. Besides the Sonics are still in a state of chaos. Players up there get sick of GP's shtick. He's been doing this for a long time and his chance for a championship is stuck somewhere way in the past. Not to mention Baker (once was good, now am fat, ohh wait I'm depressed too).

Everyone knows the Sonics will almost always have what it takes to make the playoffs, but they are out of the championship picture IMO for a long time. Trust me you wouldn't want to play long term with GP with that sort of outlook (it's going to drive the guy nuts). AND WHEN GP AIN'T HAPPY, AIN'T NOBODY HAPPY.

Walt and Los DID have a productive season, and arguabley better than KT. but with the acquisition of Collier and Langhi, it doesnt seems like neither Los nor Walt will be wearing a rocket uniform next season. KT will most probably stay to either start at PF or to backup a PF to be acquired some time soon (B. Grant?).

The Rockets should keep the team that they have right now, because of one main thing: CHEMISTRY. Trading any of their players culd ruin the fabulous team chemistry that we have made, and it could take years to replace.

No. Seattle is threatening to break up an important chunk of their team to keep Lewis, I seriously doubt they will consider trading him. The team doesn't seem to be in chaos and the only cancer currently on their roster according to reports is our old buddy Mad Max who is set to be traded or cut. The best we can hope for is for Lewis to sign for Seattle's $2,250,000 exception for one year and become an unrestrected free agent in 2001, because we have 0% chance of landing him this year.

I agree with IndianPlaya. WE should try to keep this team, and just add Langhi and Collier to the rotation instead of replacing someone else with them.

    RT45,

Perhaps they have pledged to with all their collective effort to keep Rashard, but GP and the Sonics continued failure is a broken record. I believe we do have a legitimate shot at the kid.

He could say I don't really need that much money this year, wink at me now, pay me later, this is my city, I'm gonna rock-it, as a Rocket. Remember he does have some ability to force their hand for something in return. Or just walk.

Let's think about what kind of squad he'll get to play with.

Grumpy Payton, Vin "Buffet" Baker, Mad Max(maybe), and others. Amid a media atmosphere which continues to ask and put pressure on the team saying,"how come you guys can't take it to the next level."

Or a young upstart, hometown crew, which has a fast run-and-gun style. He'd get along great with Stevie, Cat, and youngin's. Not to mention you know he'll likely end up playing some down at Westside at getting to know them even better. Not to mention that we don't have a ton of expectations on them.

The other key variable is whether Rashard is still hurt by Rudy not picking him. Will that make a relationship with Rudy awkward? Who knows what he is thinking?

But yes I do find much hope and optimism that we many have things in our favor that other teams do not. One of which certainly is not money.

We shall see how this plays out but there certainly is reason for both doubt and optimism when it comes to Rashard.

Should we go after Rashard? Hell yes!!
Look if there was 0% chance then how come ESPN reports Reshard as considering us. That means there is a chance. Perhaps 50/50 is not accurate, but nobody knows what is.

So here's hoping Rashard is getting home sick!
