OK. What I there are several things that I want to know about.

    1. How much cap room will we have next year after Hakeem Olajuwon retires? (sad to even think about it).

    2. What big names can we expect in the draft next year if it is supposed to be so deep?

    3. What big name free agents will be available next year?

    4. With Hakeem retiring and if we made some possible trades on draft night next year, could we be the next Orlando?

I have another question to add:

What first round picks do the Rockets have for next year?

The only ones I know for sure are their own pick and the Buck's 11+ pick the got in the draft trade for Collier. I've heard we have others. What are they and what are the conditions on them?

I think Houston has a first round pick coming from Orlando sometime. Anybody know the answers to these questions?

We also have a Detroit pick maybe and a Grizzlies pick I think. I'm sure when Hakeem goes we have 3 million more in cap room. Webber is a free agent next year ummmmm I think Gary Payton is also but not sure, Tim Duncan if he signs a 1 year deal with the Spurs, Vince Carter I think again. That's all I can think of!

I believe Carter is a free agent after the 2000-2001 season and anybody else drafted when he was because rookies can only sign a maximum of three years if I am not mistaken. I don't think Payton is but we don't need a point guard any how.

Carter isn't; rookies sign 3 year deals with a team option for the 4th year. Obviously since we are discussing Vince Carter, Toronto would exercise that option.

Then why does Houston not have that 4th year option on CM?

Cat was a 2nd round pick and their contracts are not guaranteed. he got a 2 years deal when he was drafted.

Mobley was a 2nd round pick; they aren't given the same type of contracts. See, 2nd rounders have just 2 year contracts but at the end of those two years that player is just a restricted FA- if Houston matches any offer up to $4 million, they get Mobley.

This is the NBA's system for letting teams keep their draft picks after their rookie contracts are off- if the player is a 2nd round pick, he becomes just a restricted free agent. If the player is a 1st rounder, the club has the option for another year.

To answer your question though- it's because Mobes was a 2nd round pick and not a 1st rounder.

Payton, and Carter are not FAs next year.

We'll be enough under the cap to attract CWebb.

Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong?
