I noticed there's a lot of people who don't seem to think Paul Pierce is all that he's cracked up to be...acting like this past year was a fluke...saying he's overrated. Well, if some of those people watched the last two USA games they would see he is by far the Most Valuable Player on the USA team...leading them in points both games and even managing to lead the team in assists the first game. I don't even think McGrady or Kobe have as silky-smooth moves as Pierce does when he gets inside. The way he spins in the lane through traffic and invents layups is a sight to behold. And I haven't even mentioned the fact that he's a deadeye from behind the 3-point line. I love watching him play, and I can't believe I'm agreeing with Kenny Smith, but he's right...Paul Pierce is a Top 5 player. Boston should thank the heavens that they managed to land such a talented, class-act as Paul Pierce with the tenth pick in the draft. You don't hear any controversy between him and teammates unlike other star players. There's just nothing negative you can really say about him.

He is very talented and has really proved himself to be a clutch player by taking over games when needed which is the sign of a future superstar.I think he is a better scorer than McGrady and only slightly behind Kobe as an overall player, but Kobe is arrogant while Pierce is a nice young man.
Dirk Nowitski was my favorite Non-Rocket player until his weaknesses on the defensive end really stood out in the Sacramento series, but now Pierce has taken over his place.

They should also thank their lucky stars that he wasn't too badly hurt in that knife attack. It would have been a damn shame to lose such a great, classy player because of some moron with a knife.

My favorite non-Rocket is Hakeem. Why am I the only one? :(

I guess this just includes players who NEVER played for the Rockets. I really don't have a favorite, but T-Mac came to mind. I don't know why, though. But PP is up there in my book.

    *actually reads DCKid's post.*

    Hm...Paul is pretty good.

The pro & anti Olajuwon posters fought a heated battle of words from last summers negotiations until well into the past NBA season. About 85% of the board has a "thanks for the memories" attitude. There are some extreme diehards.

Personally, I find it hard to have a favorite player who doesn't play much.

I'll admit Hakeem seemed to be asking for a bit much, but how could I ignore all his accomplishments? In my mind, he's still a Rocket. Since I like all the Rockets and don't like non-Rockets, he's my favorite non-Rocket.

Also, if anyone cares, Matt Bullard is my second favorite. Guess why?:D

There's no denying that PP's stock has risen so much that people have forgotten what he had to endure after the stabbing incident. I don't think anything negative can/should be said against this young man. He's got game, he's been able to back it up, and he's not an attention seeker unlike Kobe. I would prob. rank him 2nd to Kobe in terms of overall ability although there's only a very small gap seperating them..
Always liked him since I watched him in action in college.
Any chance we might be able to pry him away from Boston in the future? hyuk!

I agree. Each game I see Paul Pierce play, I am more and more impressed by his offensive skills. Even more so, I like how he gets the free throw line so much. He is dominating the USA team and has taken over when the game has been somewhat close or in doubt. Even though people have been saying that Boston won't be as good this year, I can never count out Paul Pierce (or Antoine Walker), along with a (hopefully) rejuvenated Vin Baker.

I've lived in Boston for the last four years and I from what I've seen, Paul Pierce is the real deal. He can get really good shots for himself whenever he goes to the basket. My only complaint is that he at times shoots from the outside too much. I'd rate him pretty close to Kobe in overall ability.

I have to say my fave non-rocket will have to be Hakeem Olajuwon. I am still a big fan of his. The thing I really wanted him to do was finish his career in houston where he would really b appreciated. Hakeem is my fave non-rocket.

besides the obvious reply of Hakeem, probably my favorite non-rocket player is Tim Duncan he is so sound in all facets of the game.

On a complete side note I bought a pack of inspirations basketball cards earlier today and I pulled a lamar odom & eddie griffin dual signature card. twas pretty sweet
