JHill has a nice mid range jumper that extends past the foul circle. Decent to above average foot work will only improve with constant work. According to chron he's added a turnaround baseline jumper and is working with CD on jump hook. We'll see in summer league play though.
I'm not much of a stat wonk like some, but I believe Hill is going to be a player. Like Scola, I look at Hill's dollar cost versus production, and both are much better values than Bosh. Also, they both are of high character. I think Patterson ultimately will be the trade bait to go along with Battier to acquire a center to complement Yao Ming. My fear is that we will become disenchanted with Hill when we play him out of position at center.
We have no idea what Hill will be. Bosh was pretty polished when he came into the league. As far as playing organized ball. hill is still pretty raw but has shown some flashes of really good stuff. I love his knack for boards and his quick his Jump off the floor is. I swore he could getup twice for a board before some guys hit the floor off there first jump. Soft hands and shows the ability to develop and mid range to outside shot. Right now his game is similar to Joakim Noah's in that he doesn't really get plays run for but gets a lot of hustle points and boards and can run the floor excellently. I think he's a lot more athletic. I'm sure a lot of Knicks fans were scratching their heads on that one. But we're blinded by the Lebronathon. Looking back that's the one piece of the they would probably have liked to keep. Hill has lots of potential let's see where he and CBud are after two years. AB is looking pretty good and should really show us something this year. Not that he hasn't already. But he's already getting way more respect from the refs. And I believe he hasn't shown us nothing yet. Ab is a fierce competitor. He's always been doubted. I've been watching him since Franklin. Still lighting quick, still a fierce competitor. One of the top three point shooters in the league. And no one has the super spins off the backboard like the little man. Ever heard of Tiny Archibald or Allen Iverson? I'm not saying he's neither of these guys. But little guys can get it done in this league too. So I'm just hoping we hang on to the guy so we can see him make his mark. I love this team because we got guys that care about winning and not their brand.
Whoa now... Patterson is our Landry-replacement. Hill is the Bosh-replacement. Get its straight now. Seriously, I am not a big fan of " per 48" stats since most times there is a good reason why player X plays fewer minutes than player Y (and fouling is just one of those reasons). Let's not put too much pressure on Hill's development. Hopefully he develops and sizes up a bit so as to contribute effective minutes at the 4 and 5.
and you forget the Knicks drafted him. Yes those same Knicks that have made such great calculated moves the past decade.
Landry is a pretty solid offensive player, especially in the post...right now Hill looks awkward when he has the ball in the same situation...hell, I kind of cringe when he's got it . If he works HARD on his game he might be able to get to Landry's level, but it's silly to state stuff like this when you really don't know.
seriously, i know everyone is on the Bosh Bashing Bandwagon, but the boy can ball. like some one said ealier, Hill has a long way to go to be better than Landry, let alone Bosh
Hill was a #6 Lottery Pick people come on. New york has drafted Gallinari, Chandler, and Lee in the since 2005. I'd say that's not a bad drafting for span of four years. Dantoni is known for short rotations, not playing rookies, and putting players in his dog house and keeping them there(Nate Robinson). It was reported Dantoni and Hill had problems. So there is no reason to believe Hill is an inferior pick. If Walsh is on the way out. Dantoni probably won't last the season especially if they don't make the playoffs(which I hope happens).
LAndrys good at what he does, but I think he's topped out and has lost some of the athleticism he had as rookie. He's really polished and has had knee injury. Hill has barely played organized ball. Came out of nowhere and just seems to keep excelling. He shows flashes of game changing abilities at times. No he's not as good as Landry yet but to think that he can't be or wont be is nonsense. We haven't even seen him for a half a season. No one has so chill out and give him a chance.
Hill reminds me of a Otis Thorpe type and comparing him to Chris Bosh is foolish. Hill will never have the outside shot touch that Bosh has and Bosh is not as physical as Hill is. Hill must show he can develop a better game with the ball and must learn to play defense still as he is very foul prone. Hill is a great project to be a rock off the bench but nothing more. If the Rockets believed he was of starter quality then why all the reports of trying to get Bosh or Jefferson?
In no way did I say he 'can't be or won't be'...but to state he's going to be better than landry like it's a fact is foolish...you just don't know...hell there are a lot of players with a lot of potential that don't pan out for one reason or another...and all of them had people backing them up as the next best thing. Relax, I'm giving him a chance...
Now that we're not getting bosh, I'm pretty excited about hill's potential. I dont think he will be better than bosh, but I see hill as Joakim Noah, constant energy, hustle, 10-12 rebounds, put back dunks, defensive minded type of a player with much better offensive game. And thats pretty good seeing how noah is considered untradable for the bulls.
Hill is a better rebounder, shotblocker and defender. Landry is better on offense. I think Hill will get better on offense....and be a better NBA forward than Landry. DD
I hope so. There are so many players that talk about working on their games but get content once they get paid. We'll see what Hill is made of this next season, but I'm not going to proclaim anything about a lottery pick traded away his rookie season. I think the Knicks made a dumb move, but they saw something they didn't like...most folks don't like to think about that.
