Spain 71
Yugo 69

suck on that Peja and Vlade.

You guys aren't as good as you think. I like Vlade, a lot, (I really do) but his team of a bunch of shooters with ZERO defense who pass around the horn and play international zones are RIPE for upsets, a.l.l. .t.h.e. t.i.m.e.

The best defenses can always stop them.

The just are not fundamentally sound enough in all aspects of the game.

Vlade played 13 minutes to Gasol's 39 (of 40).

Peja took 6 shots in 24 minutes.

Spain shot 40% from 3pt range.

IMHO, the loss had more to do with poor offensive decision making at crunch time than poor D.

Peja needs to work on his clutchness, he didn't do jack in the last 5 minutes of the game. And then he let a 5'9" Spaniard guard drop a back-breaking 3 pointer on him in the final moments.

And Brazil can thank Vlade Divac for teaching Hedo Turkoglu his "backtapping the ball to your opponent" move.:D He tapped the ball to a Brazilian player who drained the 2&foul with 26 seconds left. That sealed up Brazil's 88-86 victory.

They also are a team who can upset anyone in the world at any time - but yes, they are vulnerable to upsets themselves.

Even if you have the best defense in the world, though, if someone can shoot the ball - they're going to make it more often than not. If the entire time is hitting shots, then no matter the quality of defense, they are going to be able to beat a lot of teams.

I think heypee got a complex for the international brand of roundball. Should we tell him that it was an international team of shooters and not good ol' american barkley-style roughhouse basketball that beat yugo? ;)

The United States better kick it into gear against Germany or you can add them onto the list of World Powers getting knocked off.

That point guard Juan Carlos Navarro was quite impressive. I sure would have preferred CD & RT to take him at #37 instead of Tito Maddox

Never said it was Barkley roundhouse ball...and what does that have to do with defense anyhow. I said that great offenses with no defense are ripe for upsets....always...at all levels....they NEVER win it all.

And RocksMillenium...a 17 point win is a 17 point win....convincing no matter how you slice it.

A 2 point loss is a 2 points loss. And no one tell me Pau is better than Nitwitz!!

This US team I believe has an attitude about defense and not losing under their watch that no other US team did.

Defense wins...at all levels...all the time. Euro teams don't have the complete game to win. Neither does Peja...

poor Peja...

He has to be the most overrated NBA player!!! and has no clutchness.

My money is on Wally Sz... Serb...

My money is on Wally being the most overrated

not only is he one dimentional, but he clashes with teamates regularly

not to mention his rediculous demand for a max contract

Tito Maddox is a very good guard. I don't know why people are down on him, he's as good as that Juan Carlos guy.

At the time I posted that Germany was up 69-67 that's why I said in the post that the United States better kick it into gear against Germany. It was in the United States best interest at the time to turn it on, that game was scary late in the 3rd.
