lighten up ppl.. its summer time, the weather's crappy and so are the disastros. there's not much going on in Houston these days. Last couple weeks on the GARM have made my work days go by so much quicker... whether its just rumors or not.. its been interesting! BTW...CHANDLER IS AN EXCELLENT acquisition... with Morey's brains, and Chandler's $12mil expiring contract (along with Battier's and Hayes $9mil in expirings combined)...wonderful things can happen come trade deadline!
NO NO NO NO NO Cohesiveness is what the Rockets will need to be a contender not signing guys who are overrated power forwards. Resign Scola and Lowry and become the 2nd best team in the west and a true threat to beating the Lakers.
There is an "IF" to the voting of my yes. If we have to give up someone like Battier, Budinger or Hill....HELL NO!!!
I think a good backup center with SIZE should be top priority, and Chandler would really fit the bill. I like Brad Miller as well. If the Rockets can get Chandler without giving up much, it might even be a better move than acquiring Jefferson at a higher price. And the expiring contract is a plus. I'd like to see this happen. If it does, I think the team will be able to compete with the powers of the Western Conference this year.
chandler would be a nice coup for morey if all it costs is jeffries and andersen. he would be a great backup center and is quick enough to play the 4 next to yao for a real defensive unit. plus he's an ending contract which can be a great trade chip at the deadline for a guy who can be on the move like granger/paul/melo/josh smith/jefferson/ iggy/nash
Good insurance policy in case Yao needs more time or has a setback. I think I read that he's a expiring contract so there's no issues past this upcoming year.
If Jeffries is all the Rockets would have to give up, then the answer is a HUGE yes. Chandler is a big defensive presence and a good rebounder. I think some are down on him because he has never really developed a good offensive game, but offense isn't what the Rockets are looking for. Size, toughness, defense, rebounding. That's exactly what the Rockets were needing in a backup center and Chandler fits the bill. They're saying that this deal is somewhat fragile, but I really hope it ends up going through.
Heck yeah. It would keep both his and Yaos career going. They can play Batman and Robin at the same posiiton and limit each others minutes and injuries would instantly be less of a problem or worry. I have given up hope on optimism because Morey has struck out on so many rumors lately though.
If Healthy He can be a Backup Center and play with Yao at times when we want to go big. It would be down right intimidating with those two lurking down low. Tyson is also very athletic(alley oops galore with CP3). All depends on health though. he's pretty much a hit or miss. We get the New Orleans Chandler and u got yourself a real nice addition. Exactly what we need if healthy.
Will getting a guy who's averaged 6 boards and a block for 8 years in a row to plug our backup center spot for practically free and having him turn into one of the better trade chips in the league in six months be a good acquisition? Hmm, I'll have to think about that.
So, Miami traded Beasley already. Though I wonder if Charlotte and Houston can find a deal that works for both of them.
No. The Bobcats wanted Beasley bad, but had no real trade assets. The Rockets were willing to take on Chandler's high salary in exchange for only non-rotation players (not picks). Beasley's gone. Charlotte has no more motivation to deal Chandler without a clear talent upgrade. Morey doesn't want to give up many assets for the overwhelmingly overpaid Chandler. Not a recipe for a deal ever getting done. Sorry.
But since Minnasota has an overstock at PF could be see a 3 way deal with the Rockets, Bobcats and Wolves? I wonder what we would have to give up to land both Jefferson and Chandler?
