You realize you will pay some of that lawsuit if he wins right?

Wow, the POS thug won the lottery. If the worthless slime was stealing from my home he would be rightfully dead.

Most people don't get beaten up by the police, if they aren't doing bad things to begin with.

You know there is such a thing as due process and letting the punishment fit the crime. This is something cops are trained to follow and those who don't are a dirty liability to our country.

there is such a thing as following rules, not committing crimes, good parenting, and personal accountability. Does this mean we can sue them?

Interesting how the article fails to mention why the kid was handcuffed in the first place, what he was doing, or why it apparently took several officers to bring him down.

If you want a criminal to follow the rules....shouldn't you have the same rule for the police?

or course. the cops didnt...they were fired.

The other person who broke the rules should be rewarded in the amount of millions and millions...even though i'm sure he is having a hard time living his life with his post traumatic stress

like is said, he will probably get a couple hundred thousand (still too miuch but i understand that the queaky wheel gets the grease) and move along. $10 million is laughable.

    1. The article doesn't say he's suing HPD; it says he's suing the officer. So, the taxpayer wouldn't be paying any of it.

    2. If he was suing HPD, so what if he or I or you has to pay a little bit of it? Should we tolerate injustice because justice might cost us money?

    3. $10m is probably a statutory limit, not some expectation voiced by Holley.

    4. If he is just suing the ex-officer and not HPD, he likely won't actually receive much money at all. But, he will ruin that guy's finances.

    5. Glad that the cops in question were fired and charged. But, Holley sustained damages and doesn't get any redress for the crime committed against him. I don't see anything wrong with seeking compensation. Just because someone is guilty of a crime doesn't mean that it's open season for people to go and whale on him.

Friend of mine is HPD. Nobody on their side is supporting the cops. Why do you think were fired? It probably took several officers to take him down because they were wussies.

Just because a criminal doesn't follow the rules, it doesn't allow other criminals to beat him up.

"The lawsuit states that medical records indicate that Holley now suffers with post traumatic stress disorder."

So he has no real injuries and wants to sue? If your criminal a$$ doesn't want to get beat down, then don't break the law!

The cops should be suspended/fired if they used excessive force, but this sue happy nonsense is a joke.

Hopefully he learned his lesson and won't be stealing again, except his friends now want to get beat by the cops so they can sue!
