I am a new homeowner and I'm trying to figure out what the average kWh usage is to figure out if I was high or low this month. We used 1078 this month. My electricity bill is lower than I expected it to be when we purchased the home so I'm wondering if perhaps we used less electricity this month than we normally do. Is 1078 high? low? average? Thanks in advance.
That's pretty good, then. My house is about the same size and we're usually around 1500 or more kwh during the summer. I also have a 15 year old a/c system that I wish would die while I have a home warranty.
It is pretty hard to compare. Do you have gas stove, oven, water heater, furnace? New 16 seer AC? new refrigerator
Is it a newer home? There have been some pretty significant changes in energy effeciency in newer homes, even in the last few years. Tech shield, extra insulation, double pane windows, more effecient AC and appliances. Also, little things like which direction your house faces, if it gets direct sun in the windows, do you have window coverings, is it shaded by trees. All of that stuff adds up.
That's low. My company expected usage in Houston in June (assuming normal weather) would be 1,570 kwhs for our customers who live in single-family homes. Since you're new in the home, are you sure that's a whole 30-day billing cycle?
Thanks for all the replies. Turns out the original rep I spoke to was wrong and it was not a full 30 day billing cycle.
